Default Can one get lucky with their 99' V6 coupe tranny?

I just bought a 99' coupe EXV6 before reading about the tranny problems. I took it to an expert garage that ran computer tests on it and said there aren't any problems with it. I did notice that it quivers at about 1500RPM 35mph ish.

Also, when I stop I feel a slight nudge as it shifts back to 1st. The car has clean CARFAX at 142,500. Is it possible to have a "good long lasting" auto v6 tranny from 98-02 or is it going to fail before 200k? Thanks in advance!

Will probably fail without warning like most that I've seen. The jerk you describe might just be a bad mount

While it is quite remarkable for a transmission to last 200k miles considering the forces applied to the internals on a regular basis I would say it is likely the V6 transmission will fail "prematurely".

The clunk/jerk could be caused by a faulty engine mount. I've replaced countless mounts on the V6 for this symptom.

Describe the "quiver". Is it a vibration that ressonates through the cabin? Is it something that is felt in the pedals only? Is it something you hear and feel or only feel? Need more information.

I am getting the engine mount replaced next week as the imports garage said that the front and side engine mounts were broken. So that may be it thanks for pointing it out phootbag! Its a slight quiver (feels like the entire car) at a very light pedal pressure at about 1500rpm 35mph like I said. If it does fail is there another more reliable tranny that can be installed (I know Acuras of similar years wont work either)

It is possible the vibration is not in the transmission. It is possible the vehicle is having an EGR misfire. The V6's are known for that. Can't tell without looking at live data.

It's definitely possible for your transmission to last until 200k. As long as you don't gun it and work with the shift points you should be fine.

I'm having similar issues with my 98 V6 AT. It has 190k and still runs strong and trans fluid is still pink. BUT...it seems to stay in 1st gear longer than it should and on decel will downshift kinda hard when not on the gas, but not all the time.

I also noticed yesterday that my front passenger tire is not centered in the wheel well while the driver side is.
