Default Possible Blown Engine

Whats up guys I need some help asap! I was driving on the 60fwy(so cal) yesterday about to hit 5th gear when all of a sudden i heard a snap and a big cloud of smoke after that. I pulled over popped my hood and smoke just started coming out of my engine I let it sit for a while and checked my gauges to see if it was overheated and nothing. I tried turning it back on and nothing I just got like a one click sound. We figure we just try popping the clutch at that time and still got nothing out of it. Im hoping it was just a piston or something minor. Maybe one of you guys had the same thing happen? help me out here please!

Wow, yeah, that's definitely gone.

You gonna rebuild that engine, or buy a replacement? OR .. buy a replacement to use while you rebuild that one? It'd be nice to have a fresh "backup" engine.

im actually thinking about buying a new engine....which one at this point idk lol ive always wanted a k-series but that would mean new everything lol but its worth it i guess as for my blown engine im actually thinking about keeping it and doing a rebuild lol might as well take advantage of getting to know my engine internally

Around here you could buy an extremely low mileage d17 for $500-600 no problem, so why rebuild?

I would only rebuild a d17 if I wanted to upgrade the internals.
