hey everyone im starting to gather all the parts i need to swap my h23a1 92 prelude from auto to manual. i just picked up a 91 accord h2a5 tranny today (dont hate, i paid $125, lol) with 83k on it and im junk-yarding most of the other parts but i needed to know, what tranny mounts i should use? can i just use the prelude auto mount, manual mount, or an accord mount? just trying to be sure, im not too rich and im just trying to do the cheapest swap until i can afford an h22 transmission next year. any help would be apprciated, thanks

 

i dont think it matters between f-series and h-series mounts, but im not too sure

 

You need to check out esp's web site. it should bolt up to the block. the hole in the bracket on the right apron is in a different spot. according (sorry im drunk) to esp. their auto to 5spd mount will bolt up to the trans but you need to pull the studs lol and tap the other holes. ROTFL

 

haha thanks for the drunken response ssmbb2. the mounts looked very simular so if all i need to do is mod the old mounts it will make life alot easier

 

The ear on the passenger side body is different between an auto and a manual vehicle. So the options are to find a five speed prelude in a junkyard, drill out the spot welds and weld up to your car or buy the conversion mount. That 3/4 of an inch makes all the difference in the world. PS the mount was only 110 and looks oh so sexy hidden underneath my airbox and battery.

 

haha sounds good man. do you have a link to where i can get that conversion mount? and mine will be exposed because i have a short ram intake and my battery was relocated to the trunk lol

I just rechecked the literature and it says that it will work on a h2a5.

 

what advantage does that extra 3/4 inch do?
i did the manual swap from an auto 3 years ago and never did that...zero problems at all...so i really dont know why everyone says its necessary...

 

I couldn't get the back motor mount bolt to thread. Come to think of it though i had a poly mount in the back too.

 

soo now im confused lol do i need a conversion mount or not? lol

 

IDK, If you can get everything to bolt up with the mount that came on the tranny more power to you.
