Default Loooking for one of these...

Anyone replaced their heat/ac control and got a spare that's in better shape then this:

It doesn't have to have the A/C button since my A/C is stripped out. TIA

you could just silicon it back together. Mine looked exactly the same as yours when I first bought my rex, I just siliconed it back together and it's been perfect ever since. But thats just me.

How did you go about stripping out your A/C? I'm planning on doing it, but all the manuals I have say that it should be done only by a "certified tech."

they say let a certified technician do it because they don't want you releasing all the freon into the air. just start taking the crap apart...if u care about the o-zone then let somebody release it into a can, or just take off the little caps and push it in like u are letting the air out of a tire...but it is COLD!!!!!

and those center things are all one peice..like $342.00 at honda..screw that..

make sure not to breathe the gas when you're releasing it also, as it is harmful. but if you're outside with a lot of air you shouldnt be in harm. then just follow the lines around and take out the components. they're all connected to eachother so you cant really mess it up. i left the stuff alone in the cabin, but under the hood it is stripped to the firewall. and dont let the neighbors watch....

When it comes to removing the A/C, the worry is about releasing the freon into the atmosphere. I worked for a heating and air place and my dad has been doing it all his life. He has a freon recovery machine that he uses, but I have seen him release the freon out into the air, just a little bit is no big deal at all. But be careful, it is dangerous, freon can give you frostbite and cause permanent damage. Breathing it will give you a high, but it will also kill you with a hit that is too long. Be careful for yourself.

Dang dude. . .mine looked like that when I bought my Crx too.

I just ripped it ut and made my own panel for that spot. Just a piece of plexi that I painted black from behind. Got a switch for my lights there for now. Might change it up in the future. I took out the A/C when the ZC went in anyway. It's not so bad w/o climate controls. That's what the windows and the vent is for!
