Default DPFI Help!

Ok so for those who havent read about my issues here goes... Picked up the car after it has sat over 4 years. Brought it home put a good battery in it turn the key nothing find the clutch switch is bad and jump it. Next doesnt act like it wants to fire at all check and i do have spark but weak. Install new coil and plugs and got real good spark so onto the fuel... Car had a gallon or less fuel in it when i got it so I added 7-8 gallons and a half container of seafoam and change the fuel filter which looked original!!!! At first could add fuel down the throttle body would crank then die, after awhile (assuming ran out the bad gas) it would idle. With any throttle it would die. Well came to the conclusion if I unplugged the primary injector it would rev and drive fine (till apx 3500rpms or so, no tach) could actually commute daily as is but want it right. I rented a fuel pressure tester hooked it up and got the following: 44psi with just the key, 36psi with vacuum at idle, 45w/o vacuum at idle.I check by squeezing the return to see if its blocked and the psi raised a little but saw some gas start to leak so unblocked and everything went back to normal.. So i looked down the throttle body and could visually see no fuel from the primary. So at this point im thinking injector???? Right? Can I test the injector someway? Maybe its clogged or locked up is there a way to fix them without shelling out 160$?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.
Aaron

I would just go to the junk yard and get some injectors and try them out. You can get injectors from junk yards for free. Just gotta go and get them. Get more then one too.

you can also try cleaning. with the injector out, spray carb cleaner into it - see if you can clear it out. Modern fuel additives DO NOT age well.

but, yeah - definitely hit junk yards before buying a new one. $160 is stupid. You can do a mpfi swap for that much $$$.

I'm still very new to these cars but I'm sure mpfi and a motor swap will b n its future. As for now I pulled the injector assuming its bad. Got to work this am tested w a 9 volt Duracell battery. At first nothing after several attempts it started to leak a lil fuel then a few more could hear it clicking so hoping it was just froze up can't wait to try later. If not a junkyard search is in order!!!

I'd say this is your wisest bet.

If you are really planning an MPFI swap, might as well do it now, but personally I'd fix this issue before. Call it my OCD but I like to have a car running tip top before I rip it apart, that way I know if I did something incorrectly and what it could be.

Just my .02. Best of luck.

Next time change the fuel filter after the fuel tank is free of all bad gas and certainly after you run empty after adding seafoam/additives to it. You could easily clog the filter as the garbage from the tank and lines make their way through the system.

Sounds like you actually disconnected the secondary and not the primary. The secondary turns on only when the engine is under load. All other times you are running off the primary only.

Fix the leak.

Do the injectors make a 'click' sound when you manually apply power to them? If not, then they may be fried or stuck open/shut. You can also soak the injectors in carb cleaner, injector cleaner or even just clean fuel if you aren't hearing them click. Also check the little filters on them for debris while you are at it.

You can't really check if they are firing and passing fuel outside the car without rigging up a test fixture. It would need a way to supply fuel pressure as well as a way to pulse the injector. Found this on the internet as an example.

Anyway, if you can hear the injectors 'click' when you manually apply power to them then you can check to see if they are clogged while they are installed on the engine. First remove your spark plugs. Then disconnect the auxiliary injector. Try to start the car a few times - you should now have a strong smell the fuel coming from the spark plug holes. That would verify that your primary injector is passing fuel. Disconnect the primary and connect the primary connector to the auxiliary injector. Try to start the car and you should smell fuel again if the auxiliary injector passes fuel.

so everyone knows its fixed! with a grand total of 83$ in tune-up parts and a battery it is running great! Thanks to all who have gave advice. It was the primary injector was seized up! I took it out sprayed it down and actually gave it juice from a 9v duracell several times before it opened up. Up till now it actually has been running on the auxillary believe it or not. But its all back together and doing great thanks again!
