Default This gauge cluster...

Looking for help, this is the cluster that is in my '89 CRX HF:

Is this the stock cluster for the '89 HF? Does anyone have one of these laying around that is broken or not working that I could get for maybe just the price of shipping? I need one to remove the faces, scan them and make white faced gauges that I will then offer for free online as a download so that you can take it and print out your own white faced gauges. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a sample of a set of white faces I made for Accord:

I wish I could remember the name of the website... someboby already did this, and was trying to sell them, only problem was he put full size samples on his website so you could just go there and download them yourself

Something to note: 88-89 clusters are different than 90-91. I have a spare 90-91 with a broken needle if you want it. The easy way to tell them apart is the 88-89 has 4 screws visible in the fuel / temp gauge, the 90-91 does not. (there are other differences as well)

Would the 90-91 faces work in the 88-89 cluster? If so I'd like to get my hands on that cluster. I won't be selling these, and I won't put any logos on the faces like I did with the Accord faces. I just want them for myself and figure as long as I'm making them for me I can offer them to everyone else.

The 90-91 faces are different than the 88-89.

Took that picture this morning... it was lightly raining. The steering wheel, I have been told, is a JDM Civic wheel. It is leather wrapped and very nice. Someone was selling some on eBay... mine came on the car.

i have some miscallaneous guage cluster stuff laying around, a 90 crx HF cluster, 89 crx SI, would you be interested in like $30 shipped? i have more cluster odds and ends that you might be able to use as well. i also have a mint 90 integra cluster, if you might be interested. i just pulled that from a friend's car, so i know it works fine. i would want a little bit of cash for that.

What is the difference in the SI and HF ('89) cluster? I might be interested if I can find out what is different. Thanks.

difference is problay the red line mark. but it still goes to 8k max. i believe, well at least on my 90 crx si it does.

in my experiences w/ this stuff, i've found them all to be a little different. i was given some indiglo gauges, but no where on the package did it say which car they were for. i had an 89 civic si cluster at the time. i tried them on that cluster, no dice. i then switched to the 90 crx dx cluster (w/ tach). no dice. they also didn't fit the 88-89 HF cluster. ended up being for a 88-89 si. it seems like honda made different gauge faces for every trim and every year car. very frustrating.

With this in mind, is the cluster that I have a picture above in the start of the thread the correct cluster for the '89 HF? I figured the low model HF wouldn't have a tach. A lot of work was done to my car before I got it so it could have been swapped.

hey i might be able to help you out....
i have a 91 si and i scanned by gauges a few years ago to print white ones also. if you think that it would be the same (and by your pic they look the same as mine) i could just send you the file. email me for details because the file is over 3mb. warez@mn.rr.com

later

it is obviously an 88-89 cluster..and judging from the 5k rpm redline, i would have to say it is from an HF model CRX. no other model has that low a redline.

Yeah I think that is the stock HF cluster. I'm guessing because the higher models don't have the redline at 5000 rpms. I have a STD hatch which probably redlines at about 5k too, but I swapped in a cluster from an Si and it has the redline at 6500. That's obviously higher than it would be for an HF or STD, so I was wondering if anyone has one of the HF rpm gauge faces that they'd want to get rid of so mine would be more accurate. But I don't want to get rid of mine because I plan on doing the MPFI swap, which should raise the redline right?

Ha, I forgot about the stupid low redline. My needle dances around 7000rpm daily. I just figured the low price trim model (HF) would only have a shift light, no tach.

keebler65 sent me the file of the gauges and I changed them a bit and they turned out like this:

(sample image only, not to scale)

The only problem I can see is that there is no mark for the center hole or the holes for the odometer or trip meter thingy. If anyone is interested in the big file, let me know.

I don't think those will fit yours, notice the space between the fuel and temp gauges. the 88-89 are closer together.

I like the blacking out between the gauges Idea though.
