need to get my 60ft's down, advice needed
my car is a turbo gsr hatch 295whp, my best 1/8th this spring is 8.8 at 87mph with 2.2 60 ft, on street tires burning through first and second, i have the chance to pick up some toyo proxes Ra1's in 205/50/15s for 50 bucks, i know these are road course tires, but i have found some muscle car guys that have used them for drag racing, and have shaved their 60fts by around half a second, im wondering if anyone has expierence with using these for drag racing, if i could go from a 8.8 to an 8.5 in the 1/8th with these tires it would be worth my 50$ to me.
i would love to buy slicks, but i dont have 300+ dollars to spend on them now, the ra1's are the same tire compound as a drag radial, but the sidewall is reinforced for road course racing, but will these tires allow me to launch the car now instead of feathering the clutch in first and second and actually hook up, i need to know if they should be able to lower my times with good driving, they are 50$ i can afford that while i save up for some slicks this summer

ditch the launch control you possibly have!
preload, modulate throttle and feather clutch at launch.
IMPORTANT is no wheelspin! wheelspin is loosing!
hammer it once clutch is engaged and your not spinning, if spinning modulate and try better next time. 2nd gear, shift fast and modulate throttle, again if clutch is up and no spinning you can floor it!
the toyo´s will help, but you´re still forbidden to spin or your 60fts suck and your risking breaking parts.
this way me and my mate are able to hit 1.9/2.0 60fts on true street tires at street pressure 30+psi at respectivly 254 and 300 ish whp

Here is a way to judge yourself.
2.0 very good Summer tires
1.8 Drag radials
1.6 slicks
If you can drive these are realistic times for 60'. I was able to cut 2.2 on the stock Michelin tires 12 years ago. Lots of seat time and practice.
Once I finally got some Ultra High Performance Summer tires, 2.0's became the norm.
I was able to out do a turbo civic on slicks about 300whp, and Race built LS integra on drag radials, about 200whp. They both got me on the top end but the fact I was 1/2 car ahead at 60' was a bit shocking to them.
I was running the stock GSR suspension back then, and I was going to the track twice a week and getting 5-10 runs each night.
