CLUTCH?TRANNY PROBLEM help.

CLUTCH?TRANNY PROBLEM help.
Earlier yesterday, i started to hear a slight noise coming from my motor area. Started to get louder within a hour.
Sitting in my vehicle at a set of lights, My clutch started to shake, was slow coming back up, and a squealing noise when i pushed in my clutch pedal.
Pulled over to the nearest parking lot, popped the hood and had some light smoke coming out on the top of my tranny just below the dizzy, had a bad smell to it.
Checked the fluid, everything is topped up. Clutch Shifts fine into gear and doesn't slip out.
Going to change the clutch hopefully this weekend, But want to know what you guys might think the problem is.
forgot to add - 98gsr motor/tranny
