Are there ways to tell if an engine is good or not with it not being in a vehicle. My brother has a B17 that is currently not in a vehicle and I would like to know if the engine is any good before I swap it in my car. My question is there anything I can do such as tests to see if its any good? Any input would be great!

 

Alot you can do to check. Is it apart? If so check cylinder walls for scoring, check bearings, piston rings and all that yada yada. If its apart I would say might as well rebuild it so you have a fresh start but thats my opinion

They are right. Leakdown test if its assembled. Rebuild if its apart. Water pump, oil pump, head gasket.... ect soooo much easier to do when the motor is out. Good luck!
