Blown shock? Upper shock mount bushing?
okay so i have this clunk in the rear left when going over the tiniest bump but not smooth and aggressive dips.
i thought it was my lower control arm bushings. i went ahead and replaced them and the clunk was still there
so i checked to make sure every suspension component was tightened and not broken.
everything was fine so is put my eyes on my Function and Form coilovers and i swapped sides and the clunk went to the opposite side. now that i pinpointed the noise (not exactly) im wondering if the shock is blown. there is no noticeable reduction in damping maybe because of the high spring rates. so what do you guys think? shocks are still under "warranty" but i have to deal w shipping time etc.
but i also thought about the upper shock mount busings. could that be the culprit?
thanks

yes. still there. did you read the part where i switched the coilovers from side to side and the noise went to the other side/
im getting a replacement shock and we'll see if thats it.

i was also thinking top hat bushings. well ill take the bad one apart once the new shock comes in if the top bushing that sits under the top hat is bad then ill replace that and return the shock. i dont think that could have failed tho because wouldnt they all fail at the same time or close?
also i compressed the spring a little leaving the top hat with no pressure and i was able to compress the shock with my hand and no rebound
so thats one thing against the shock, also that side feels bouncy like it dips more than the other. but we'll see. btw the coilovers are preloaded so the spring has no play ever, also the rubber that separates the spring and top hat is a little worn but not cut thru.

haha funny how you're going through the same thing. i got the exact same problem on my shocks. i switched my rear shocks to the opposite side and the noise moved as well so i assume one shocks blown. now i want to test if its the top hats. funny how we live in the same city too lol. so what happened anyways? update on this?
WTF old *** bump!
dont you hate it when you have the same exact issues as in a thread someone made and the ******* never updated it? that drives me nuts! well oops lol
SO! i it turned out it was the shock. i switched sides and changed the top mounts and everything until i gave up and called F&F. i had to send a 100 deposit and they sent me a new shock. i sent mine after swapping everything and got my 100 back. NOISE GONE!
well i sold the car in January and got a GTI

*function & form type 1 (1 blown shock)
*blox LCA's
*no sway bar
* D16y7 motor
*SIR lip
this guy is such a loser that he sold his civic because the honda game was too much for him. then he went and bought a golf GTI.

And even if we didn't we can make them. CUSTOM COILOVERS IS WHAT WE DO! Our business is from word of mouth, so I'm not surprised you did not know that, nor is everything listed on our site that we have worked on. But we definately have made them for clients, and we've gone as far back as the MK2, and down to the MK6. We've done sets for the Scirocco, Passat, Beetle, Touareg, Lupo..just to name a few
