Turbo Honda's suck.
So, you're sitting at the light in your big bad boosted H/A car, and you look to your right to find a rather innocent looking Nissan 240sx sitting next to you. He looks to you, and offers a playful rev. Insulted, you answer with a honking hello from your high tech, high revving, multiple cam profile motor Little did you know what 22psi of boost pressure could offer to a puny little 2 liter engine....

The light turns green, and you're handed your *** and stuck sitting at a pair of tail lights. You stop, talk, and look for the nitrous bottle - and fail. You smell the exhaust, and hope for the sweet smell of high octane - only to smell good ole 93 octane gas. You keep looking for excuses...built motor? Nope. Unusuable powerband? Sorry. Impossible price tag? Nope. Lumpy idle? Smoother than your girlfriend's ***. Unstreetable? Hardly.
This is the power of tuning and a well thought out setup. Utilizing a 100% stock unknown milage motor from japan (SR20DET), a couple motor bolt ons (larger injectors, Garrett GT30 turbo, manifold, GReddy intake manifold), some supporting parts (large intercooler, BOV, exhaust, downpipe), and a prototype engine management system that you'll be hearing about soon, this street legal rice burning red rocket is dead set to run 11's on pure street tires (ie, not drag radials). This car has previously run a best of 12.3@120mph with 29hp less and a lot less torque.
Let's put this in some numbers that you can appreciate
100+ hp per piston
200+hp per liter
2400lb RWD street car
And he fills up at the same gas station that your grandma does - and get's the same mpg she does, if not better! And only one cam profile to work with.
And you thought we only did Hondas....the best is yet to come! In the meantime, you'd be wise to watch your rear view for this one.

Nice. I'm always contemplating the thought of abandoning the Honda and putting a nice sr20det setup in my 95 240sx. I probably will someday. And yes, turbo hondas IMO do suck compared to a rear wheel drive factory turbo car. Are you referring to the same thing as this?

yes, Enthalpy is my very good friend of several years, a Secret Service agent, and my welder of choice. I will note here that he did all the tuning himself, with some helpful advice and encouragement from me.
BTW, now that this tune is done, we add camshafts and some other goodies which will increase top end pull, and put it deep into the mid 400's. Then we'll add some real juice and go for 10's on a stock block. Those myths you hear...we just keep knocking down those walls day after day.

supposedly, they routinely fail at 450whp no matter what. I love these types of rules, they just give you SO much room to make yourself seem larger than life

a/f looks good.....
question though...
is it leaner before boost to try to create boost earlier...then richen it up once it comes on?

Kind of a risky tuning trick, though...if was on purpose

Yes I'd have to agree, the SR20DET is a nice engine.. especially in an unsuspecting body
like my friend's BMW E36 318i

Running a GReddy TD06-25G, Trust manifold and Greddy type-R wastegate with the SR20-DET Link Engine Management ECU and 16psi.. it scares me.. its very fun to drive though.. drifting especially

sweet numbers vapourtrail!!!!
im sure that thing hauls.
Ive also thought many times about leaving honda for a RWD car(not s2000 or nsx..too much for me right now). But the buildup has comeneced
Here is the real question.
How much did he spend?
Yeah, that's what I thought. No interest in overpriced swaps on old Nissans. if I had that kind of money, I'd buy a Supra. Hondas are cheap turbo cars.

A safe estimate on the price tag on this car would be about 14k. This includes Tein suspension, whiteline sway bars, Kosei K1 16 inch wheels, custom Fluidyne radiator, motor swap, and all associated engine parts. See if you can build a Supra that can run 11's for this price tag? What's that, oh that's right, you can't. You can't even purchase a supra for 14k, let alone even open the hood.

Oh one bad thing about the SER20DET is the water pump. I was told there is no replacement for them in the US. Is this true?
