Hood Issues
Hello all
I have been having issues with my hood fitting correctly. I was in an accident about 5 years ago and totaled the front end, so it's most likely a body/frame issue. I never really cared because it wasn't that noticeable until you got really close and felt around, but since I just installed my new CF MG replica hood, because it's more flexible, there is definitely a notable difference.
At first, the CF hood wouldn't even latch properly, so I had to move the locking mechanism up and finally it will close. I have attached a picture of the gap it is creating... Is there anything I can do to fix this, what are your ideas of the problem? Is it the brackets holding the hood that are messed up? Can they be replaced?
Also, this is only happening on the drivers side.
Thanks

I have sorta similar, maybe smaller gap on driver side, between the right edge of the hood and the panel connection, but it doesn't have the lifted up looking gap around the headlight..., mine's pretty tight fit overall. I was told that these CF hoods aren't exactly identical to one another. Also, the latch not closing issue is due to the 1/4" shorter metal loop (hook) on the hood which locks onto the latch. Raising the latch up solved the issue for me as well. I'm not sure if you can do anything to your panel, but you may be able to heatgun the hood from under side and try bending it to get rid of the gap around headlight assembly. I wouldn't heat gun the top of hood though.
