Default New to forum, new to Honda

Hi,
I am looking to purchase a 4cyl. 98 Honda Accord with 226,000 miles which will be my first Honda. The car has been properly maintained with 1 owner and mint condition. The seller is asking 1500obo and I'm looking to offer 1300. I am planning to change the timing belt shortly after purchase not that it is causing any problems just due to the mileage(I've had the great experience of one going out while driving). I am looking for some input from you guys who have some experience with Honda whether it is worth it and if I should have any worries with the mileage. Also, is there any thing else I should look at wanting to change other than the norm(plugs, wires, filters etc...)?
Thanks in advance,
Aaron

If it's an automatic I would avoid it. The 98-03 models have a habit of eating their transmissions.

I have personally seen two cases of cracked engine blocks on these, one of which was one my parents bought. They paid close to what they paid for the car for a new engine. Good idea to do a block test before you buy it. Just my $.02.

EDIT: although with that many miles it could have had some major problems fixed already. Does the current owner have maintenance records?
