Just bought a new car. Help identify?
I just bought a 2000 Honda Prelude and I've never owned one before. Was happy with my purchase, got it cheap and it runs well. As I looked over the car later to check some things out I saw a few things. I've never really had a car that I've worked on minus the few normal jobs so on.
The coilovers don't look right and the rubber thing is out of place and torn?

The car is on jack stands as I had the wheel off to view.
The throttle body doesn't look stock but I'm not sure I could be wrong it has HAD on the side? Is anyone familiar with these?

Also, there is a wire that I'm guessing is a ground but it's wired directly to the negative on the battery? That seems a bit odd to me.

This boot is ripped but everything on the inside checks out, what's it called so I can replace it?

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate any comments or help.

The sleeve thing in the coilover is the dust boot, isn't really an issue but it does keep grit/grime out. Given that they're 11 years old, I wouldn't even bother.
That throttle body looks stock, it appears the previous owner put some sort of crappy throttle body spacer on it. I hope to god that's not one of those 'electronic supercharger' dealies.
forgot what that last boot is called, hopefully someone else could help you out with finding the right boot for it.
lol a ground to ground connection, this previous owner was a monkey. If it is indeed a ground and not a power wire, you can take it off and nothing will have been done. As far as I know, that's not a power(+) source.

The boot for the coilovers i wouldn't stress about. It's just a dust cover not that big of a deal. The throttle body and that wire deal definately don't look stock (been awhile since i've owned my lude so can't remember completely) And that last picture...did you have a better picture? I think that's for your rack and pinion but can't really tell from that picture.
the last pic is your tie rod boot I believe. I would have a good honda tech go through that car front to back though, looks like the previous owner may have been a real hack which can be a real pita if you don't find out all the stuff thats been done to it and un-do it or otherwise do it correctly.
Its a throttle body spacer, I bet if you pull your ground off your battery (stock one) I beet its corroded and thats why he put that on the TB... I would say to replace the dust boot its going to clunk on bumps... Tie rod.. I would replace when possible but your going to have to get a alignment
take out the throttle body spacer. that wire that runs from the battery, take it off and clean the battery terminals. if it needs another ground run it to the radiator support or something closer
