does anyone know if you can still BAR Jdm motors in Cali?

 

There was a thread about baring a jdm type r motor. Forgot what the thread is called though. try searching it.

 

This has been talked about like 1,000,000 times. JDM motors are "ILLEGAL" in Cali.
Call the state Barring and ask,that is your best bet.

Does this apply for all motors? I'm in Cali and I had a JDM D15B in my Eg coupe and got a ticket for my exhaust. I brought it to the ref station and they checked my car out, told me I had a JDM D15B in my car and that I would need it to be reffed and that since I had everything stock besides the motor that it would be a easy pass.

 

All JDM swaps are illegal in Cali,you would need to swap out the motor for a USDM one,or they can seize you car and crush it. I got lucky when i got my swap,i got mine done 4 month before the new law,so the grandfather law kept me safe,and i moved to a city that don't smog..lol

 

Dam I guess I got lucky too hahah. They let me go with no problems after I passed that decibel test for my exhaust. All they said was that I would need to get my car BAR'd because I won't be able to smog my car like that. When did the law take effect anyways? When I went to the ref station, it was back in March of 2010.

 

Longer then that,i got my swap March 2008,got pulled over and got a ref about 4 months later because of it but i already had the sticker and all,so i got let go.
You would need all the paper work for your swap and papers on who did the swap. Everything need to be installed correctly without cutting corners,and you need to show that you got it swapped before the law went in to effect.
