Default my 2000 crv ex build

hey guys. ive been on the forum for years now and i recently got a silver 2000 crv ex. been thinking about doing a build thread for a while. heres a small breakdown of whats to come.

OME lift spring kit

15x7 ar-767 wheels

225/70/15 off road/pm road tires

front skid plate *installed*

roof basket

front brush bar

maybe more...

so far im just doing a lot of cleaning and basic maintenence. brakes, oil plugs etc...

well here it is...

bought from the original owner with 5 miles on it for $4000. more to come. ive just ordered everything on the list today.

ordered my wheels today from jegs.com *UPDATED 2/28/11*

Crager Series 342 15x7 0 offset 5x4.5 = $212.50 shipped

also ordered my OME lift springs kit from rocky-road.com for = $345.xx shipped

****update**** 3/12/11 got my wheels a few weeks ago, 0 offset DOESNT fit , it hits the brake caliper. so i think im gonna run some spacers maybe 10mm slip ons. some pics of test fitting. still waiting on the springs. just replaced my front sway bar end links.

Was the motor replaced in this? I thought the 99-01 CR-V's all came with the B20Z, not the B20B...? Or was it that only the 5spd's came with the Z and auto's came with the B after 98?

None theless, nice V! Ive got a 99 silver LX 5spd. one of the best vehicles Ive ever owned. Enjoy!

thats what i was wondering, and thats why i took the pic of it. the vin on the transmission matches, but ive yet to get a chance to get under the car and check the block vin. i also asked the guy i bought it from ( and old indian couple ) and he said he didnt recall the motor being replaced. once i got home and hit the block with some brake cleaner i seen the "B" i was kinda stumped. we'll see when i get under it!

That's a JDM B20B All of the JDM B20s were labeled B20B, but the '99 - '01 versions were high compression and basically equivalent to a B20Z.

so was the motor replaced? or did it come like that from the factory? he said it was all original and the engine hadnt been replaced... didnt seem like something to lie about.

It's been replaced with a JDM engine. Original Block code for a '99 - '01 CR-V is B20Z1, '97 - '98 will say B20B1, JDM engines lack a 5th digit. B20Zs were pretty notorious for burning exhaust valves because most people never adjust the valves, so it may have been replaced because of that.

hmm... weird. well nonetheless it runs great, engine looks new, doesnt seem to have any lack of power.

Had this same problem with my 2000. One of the exhaust valve seat sank so much that the valve did not seat to transfer the heat. Had CEL for mis-fire then eventually the valve burnt.

i called rocky road and they said the wait time for the springs is 6-10 weeks! YIKES!!! becuase they only get a few sets in each shipment from australia.

also thinking of running some 235/70/15's instead of a 75 series tire. its only .9 inches shorter, im just worried it will look stupid but we'll see/

any ideas?
