I drove my LS_T making 300whp as a DD for 20K miles... on an eBay turbo kit. People who have multiple problems are likely due to user/installation error. I have had absolutely ZERO problems from my eBay kit for the past 2 years. Not even oil leaks. If you do **** right the first time, itll be reliable.

The car would still be up and running today, but stupidly, i decided to make a pass at the track knowing that my coolant level was low... Overheated at the end of the track and blew a headgasket. Would still be running today if it werent for that. Motor will be getting a new HG and going into another car soon.

I turbocharged my car with a DRAG Gen. 3 kit (I believe I have the first production one) in Aug. 1999. Ran with the stock motor until Dec. 2003. Built the motor and have been running at 530whp ever since.

So the car has been turbocharged for coming up on 12 years. Have been at 500+ power levels for over 7 years.

I have two other cars, but it is my daily whenever I want it to be. I drive it more often than the others. Ironically, of my three cars, the 500hp Integra is my only car with functioning A/C lol.

It is a Benson's 84.5mm sleeved block with Crower Rods and Endyn Rollerwave pistons. Hondata S300 with 1000cc injectors.

14,000 miles and going on my laskey built benson sleeved 84mm gsr. It gets 350whp in 1st/2nd and 450whp in 3/4 gear about 3-4 days a week. I've done about 2-3 dozen launches on slicks at the track at 500whp+. Been through a few clutch setups and axles. Still holding strong.

Stock Ls/vtec 270whp drove it 1169 miles in 2 days (fl to tx), I have probably 8000 on it since april wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere. I make quite a few hard pulls on it daily. Another mase tune, daily driven, 0 problems

quick thoughts on this

i think if someone took a stock gsr/itr and brought it up to 300whp and LEFT IT THERE with a good cast manifold, strong bolts and a great tune it would go 50k plus miles without a lot of issue.

that said SO many of us chase more whp, are always tinkering and think it would be really fun to out drag race a c6 z06. i think the HP quest is what kills the mileage some of these builds could actually go

I think that is the nature of the turbo honda beast once we get a taste of what it can be we want more. I guess that goes with anything hp related.

I think my brother is now at 60K on his turbo B18B powered civic, for about the last 6 years. Its his only mode of transportation with A/C and all the toys. He finally listened to reason and when doing it before got the right parts the first time out. Engine has a steady 140K on it. School/ work/ social activities, you name it, he uses it to get there. He laughs at the DSM guys on the sides of the road from their "factory" setups.

I'm glad to see there are some people out there that are taking care of their stuff and getting good life out of their turbos reliably. I'm getting ready to start my build with forged internals (stock sleeves), and I want it to be something a lot like Shodan's bro in the end (power goals).

Shodan - how much boost did it take to make that power level with your brothers setup??

i have a 99 gsr with a all STOCK (intake manifold, bottom end, valve train) gsr b18c1 + ITR cams. i have a full race ramhorn + a gt35r.
the car is about 367hp and is on a 8-9 pounds. i have boost by gear and RC 1000cc injectors. i turbocharged the car at 80k and its now at 92k. it was initally tuned by tony at t1 and again by my local tuner.

the car is running strong and is very reliable. i have no issues other than putting gas because i have a lead foot lol. and my oil change interval is 1500-2000 miles.

reliable turbo car can be accomplished with patience but be ready to have your back broken to get it where you like it. and cheap parts + reliability have not been a good mix for me. and DONT BUY USED FUEL INJECTORS they are the LIFE of your motor.

The name of the game is to overbuild the entire setup and have a safe tune + basic fail-safes. That's the OEM approach for reliability.

Although I can't really call mine a Honda...LOL It has a Dart block and forged internals, so it's not really a Honda block or a sleeved one for that matter.

I had this motor since late '03... About 350 WHP for the first 3-4 years, about 400 WHP for another year, 550+ WHP for another year, and 650 WHP for another year. It has seen quite a bit of roadracing and drag days, lots of dyno and gazillions of highway topspeed pulls. The same block now has over 62k miles, and last year I took it apart and rebuilt it finally with different pistons and more top-end goodies. The car never burned oil, and the reason I took it apart was due to the titanium retainers wearing down to paper thin.

At one point, this car brought me to work and was a daily driver. In the past few years, it has became a spring/winter car because cops here locally are really cracking down on modded Hondas (so I was afraid to take it out during summer). I drove the Supra/Camry in the summer/fall instead.

Here's a pic of it sitting in the snow...lol
