Default TOO MANY REASONS Y YOU SHOULD NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO RACELINE

(Before you read this please know I am not trying to defame anyones character, i am simply stating a factual experience that I had and am exercising my 1st amendment right) RACELINE USA Temple City, CA owner Elton Lo, when I first talked to the guy yes he sounded like he knew what he was talking about and seemed nice. What I had was a 90 integra that I took the motor out of, took the motor apart to clean it up and asked him if he could and would be willing to put it back together and in the car and he said yes. I told him its an old car so some hoses broke so I dont have those and that it needed a new heater core and the passenger axle needed to be replaced. So i brought him the car and the motor and everything else(nuts and bolts) were in boxes inside of the car. As he was working on it he swore up and down that one of the mounts was not in the car so i needed to go to a junkyard and get one which i did. go to the get the car today and see the mount lying there, "oh it was in a bag that i thought was just oil, you were right it was in there i just didnt see it." the car was up on the lift and i see two new axles and i ask him why, "oh i couldnt find the driver side one." it was right behind the drivers seat in a black trash bag that i took out and showed him which was full of water because he left my car outside in the rain with the window down. "oh i thought it was a power window," which it is not its a manual crank up and down, and somehow now my window doesnt work, totally of the track. so im driving it home today and try to set the cruise, that doesnt work either. back to the heater core, he bypassed it and now the car doesnt have heat because he said that he forgot to fix it and when he remembered it was too late because the motor was already in the car. oh yeah, the bushing that is under the brake where the cotter pin goes in was shot so i took it out and he said he would replace that too, nope. "dude next time you bring a car to me dont take so many things apart." so long story short, yes the car does run, wow! however i paid an extra $70 for an axle i didnt need and $30 for a mount, so $100 just for his laziness. on top of that i now have no heater, no cruise control, a broken window, no bushings, and a car that smells like mold. $740 down the drain, thank you RACELINE and Elton. Please learn from my mistake and dont ever go there.

well you cant just blame the mechanic for all of it if you brought him a car that was all in pieces did you really expect him to put it back together perfectly

i mean yeah not looking for parts that were there is just plain lazy and not putting your window up is pretty screwed up ........but if someone brought me their project and expected me to finish it you would have been paying alot more than 740 bucks .

and the engine does not have to be out to do a heater core so that could have been done wether or not the engine was done or not so if he was supposed to do it he should

but $740 for an engine install and two new axles dont sound too bad

and you should go back and make him fix the cruise control and whatever else if it worked before

Engine Install= 4-500 bux
Axles=80 bux

740 is a little steep.

^^^This kind of thinking amazes me. If he were a good business man he would have kept in contact with the OP to let him know what problems he had run into during the process. But leaving a window down period is an epic fail on the mechanics part!

Update, as I am now having to go back and take the car apart myself because nothing is hooked up for smog I see more and more problems. This job was the king of bypass jobs, anything and everything that could be bypassed is bypassed. Guess when he was doing the job if he didnt have a hose on hand or couldnt cut some other one to fit he just bypassed it if he could. With regard to the lawsuit......he says that he doesnt warranty his work so i have no case. RED FLAG to all you out there, he doesnt warranty his work because it is that bad and has probably gone through this many times before me. As I have conversed with him via telephone he has stated, "90% of my customers spend well over $1000, if you want to be a cheapass you get cheapass service." Guess im a cheapass because i only spent $750 on this hack job. Learn from my mistake, do research before you spend money and find a reputable shop.

Well it sounds like that shop is a bunch of hacks and it should have been done right and all the stuff you told him about should have been fixed. That is what you are paying the shop for. However as a tech I hate it when someone comes in needing their car put back together because they took it apart and dont know how to put it back together. Not knowing where everything goes and what bolts went to what can be a real pain if you are not the person that took it apart. Not saying you are in the wrong but you should not take apart a motor if you can not reassemble it correctly. Best off to just take it a good shop in the first place.

If you think 750 is a lot of money and you got ripped off your a loser and have no case to complain. Your poor and are part of the honda community that sucks. You took your trash to someone else because you didn't know what your doing. Now you have no clue what your doing so your just complaining to people who don't care because they wouldn't ever take there car to a shop to have someone else work on it and if they did take the car to a shop it would be for at least one specific reason or cause. You didn't have a motor in your car so most likely your battery wasn't hooked up. How do you know if your window rolled in the first place if it did work it was probably lowered down when you brought it too him (your fault). And if its off track its probably his fault because he tried to pull it up by hand! Basically you brought a piece of crap to him and he treated like a piece of crap.

Make a build thread and do some of your own work.

Lol at you getting ripped off 35 bucks and making a thread!!! dude you should quit the car scene.

he could have easily said he didn't want to work on a car with the motor out of it but he didnt, he said he could do something but ultimately didnt come through.

I hate it when customers try to bring there own parts and its stashed through out the car. You are mad cuz he didn't search your car for an axle? I guess he didn't know it was easter.

I think the jist of it is that you got what you paid for. You paid almost nothing and got a half *** job done. You broke things on the car and then brought it to them. So I guess, no, you don't know what you are doing.

yea he got it for cheap, but still if you paid someone to do a job that there suppose too and you pay them half the price and they accept than yes there suppose to treat it as if it was there own. and i don't blame the OP for stashing all his things in his car, because where was he suppose to put when he bought the car to the guy, in a big box??? yeah that was the mechanics fault for not looking when he knows there was parts in the car.

moral of the story just like the past few rants i've read: contact between customer/mechanic. all this could have been avoided if he called you and asked where the parts were. it dont take a freaking rocket scientist to figure out weather a car has power windows or not.
