"Maintenance Required" indicator
Are you referring to the maintenance required square that turns from green to yellow then red?
If you are that means that it is time for an oil change &/or other regularly scheduled maintenance to be performed (10,000km 6,000mile).......That is if it was reset after your last oil change.

It is odometer controlled, mechanically, not numerically. It is simply a coloured drum that tuns with the odometer sprocket. There is a button inside the rectangular hole to the left of the coloured square. That is what you push to reset the "maintenance Required" indicator back to green (start). You can reset it any time you want. If you just did an engine swap with new oil, now would be a good time to reset it.
I reset it every time I did an oil change. Although I never got to see the yellow or red part of the drum as I did my oil changes every 6-7,000km. IIRC the indicator is set on a rotation of every 10,000km or 6,000miles for it to roll into the red.
