Default Civic si does not pull to the red line

Hi All,
I bought a used 2007 civic si and i noticed that the car does not pull to the red line if i gun it. If i try to do it slowly and pull it all the way to the red line it will. It will kind of bogg down sometimes at 6500 rpm sometimes at 7200 rpms if i gun it that is. I am not sure if anyone else has experienced this at all and if you have what is the issue and how can i get it fixed? I know i can go to the dealer but i wanted to find out if anyone already knows about this issue and had it resolved. Any help will be highly appriciated.
Thanks,
Aasim

check simple maintenance items like the air filter, fuel filter. if clogged and dirty, lower performance

Agree, also how many miles are on the car? Run good gas in it and try some fuel injector cleaner. If theres even a little bit of gummy buildup youll get that problem.
Is it a stock air filter in there or is there a K&N drop in. If there is a K&N dont use so much oil when re oiling it. The oil will cause the sensors to get clogged up and tell the ECU incorrect readings.
Anyhow good luck!

Hi All,

The car has 26000 miles on it. All the oil levels are fine and it is all stock with all maintenance up to date. With all stock parts airfilters and i use 93 octane in it. I thought may be it is a known issue or something of that sort. I have tried it with the tcs on and off. That does not make any difference. Any help will be appreciated.

Sounds like a fuel problem. Probably a fuel filter, my cousin had a similar problem with his B series if he was easy on the throttle he was able to get it to just crossover into vtec, if he throttled it the car would break up and miss really bad. Turned out to be a clogged fuel line.

Hi Guys, I found the problem, the air box was leaking air and that is the reason it would not pull. Once i fixed that it is perfectly fine now. Thanks all for you input.
