Icon2 1995 Civic EX Sedan HP Options?

Ok so for now I use my 95 civic as a family car, a 95 EX sedan AT Tans. This is my project at work while I am stationed out here in California. Problem is I am stationed where there is a lot of mountains. Now i know a SOHC in Florida ( Where I am from) has no problem with it's HP. Out here I am having such a hard time and the sohc seems super weak with all these hills, and mountains. I was wondering any upgrades to help it out? I have heard that a Intake Manifold can help. I also have a Cold air filter just for the hell of it since it get so hot out here. I just feel like the lack of power when it comes to hills and mountains which there is plenty out here is horrible. Any suggestions? If any -_-.....

when driving the mountains your suppose to be in gear 1 or 2 correct? just thinking that would help.

sohcs are not strong but then again, the car isnt that heavy

and nothing cheap will make a difference on your engine
