RS & Type R (Same Chassis???)
Okay, pretty easy question....
The RS and Type R 2 doors share the same chassis (to my knowledge,) leading me to believe an ASR SFB would not be necessary....and Beaks should hold up just fine for using a 17mm+ rear sway bar.
My question is this...Does the RS DB8 and RS share the same exact chassis??? Would I be needing to invest in ASR to reduce sub-frame tear out when I upgrade my rear sway bar to 23mm? Would the Beaks kit even be necessary? (assuming the DB8 RS and RS are the exact same chassis as the type R)
Let me know what you guys think...Please don't just post stuff like "buy the ASR, it looks bling." I'm legitimately wondering if this is NEEDED, as opposed to wanted...
Thanks.

No, the RS and Type R chassis are NOT the same, not in the slightest. ITR's have tons of chassis reinforcement specific to ITR's only. All other non-R's share the same chassis (RS, LS, GS, GS-R).
But to answer your question, you absolutely need to reinforce the subframe of a non-R to run a rear sway bar that is larger than stock. However, an ASR bar is NOT necessary for a 94-01 non-R Integra chassis. The subframe is reasonably strong enough that a Beaks mount kit is plenty for a 22mm or 23mm rear sway bar.
For 96-00 Civics with their relatively weak rear subframe, a brace similar to ASR is pretty much a necessity, but not so with Integras.
<-- running OEM ITR 22mm rear bar with Beaks mount kit for at least 6 years now, zero issues.

The only thing that makes the RS different from the LS, GS, and GS-R is the lack of sunroof. Otherwise the chassis is the same (of course the GS-R came with the factory shock tower brace with welded studs on the shock towers, but that's not a true welded part of the unibody chassis).
It's somewhat of an oddity why Honda chose to give both the GS-R and ITR coupes the same DC2 chassis code, and non-VTEC coupes the DC4 chassis code, when really the GS-R shares its chassis with the other non-VTEC trim levels.

Yet, the Type-R trims of the EK chassis have a different number. I think it's all just arbitrary.
My JDM VIN plate on my JDM front end shows DC1. I believe it's an SiR-G front, but I have no idea what DC1 signifies.

DC1 signifies the base model Integra in Japan, which came with a 1.6L SOHC engine.

doesn't matter, people didn't buy it to go fast. They bought it because gas has been $5-$6/gallon in Japan forever now. It's actually probably higher now.
