ok well i have been thinking about doing a AWD accord but then i said **** IT and go RWD using s2k drivetrain but dont know what rear end to use....i was thinkin the s2k rear end but wont it be too short to fit the with of the accord or stick to my first thought and use a awd crv drive train but still more fab work with axles and with of the accord someone help me with some s2k knowlige on the with of the rear axle

 

though you get some credit for asking legitimate questions about a RWD conversion, don't be surprised by the skepticism and flaming you'll get when others see a trial user post this topic [with grammatical errors and typos...] without pics or proof.

This topic comes up, yet has anyone done this with an Accord?
The CR-V is related to the Civic. The S2K shares the engine family, albeit very loosely, with the Accord. A better vehicle to look at for your conversion would probably be the JDM AWD Odyessey.

With that said you will still have plenty of fabrication. If the S2K is wider, and you plan on going that route, I suggest keeping the width and just adding tasteful flares to the bodywork.

 

Might I suggest reading through the Civic and Prelude RWD conversion threads before setting such lofty goals. Just from your wording and mannerisms I get the impression you're 16-20? Doing a RWD conversion is not a walk in the park nor is it straightforward. In both of the vehicles I have seen successfully converted they were pretty much completely ripped apart and whole new rear subframe and transmission tunnel were created.

 

i have actually thought about this loosely on an accord coupe. rather than swap a whole rear subframe, you may be better off fabbing one around a specific rear diff. i say this because of the rear suspension design of the accord. however, with that being said, there will need to be significant modification to the body, including trunk panels, trans tunnel, cut or relocate gas tank, and much body stiffening. you will also be fooling with the suspension geometry so there will be a lot of math involved. if you would like to do it, by all means, go ahead, but just know what you're getting into. and an awd accord will be just as involved, though probably not the same sort of stuff

 

Sell your Accord and get a Nissan 240SX, or other similar car that is RWD. Otherwise this is a waste of time on a car that isn't a great build platform.

 

soo many tips soo quick maybe not a good idea after all.....i seen the "civett" on youtube and was just thinking unique with the first RWD accord but if i were to go ahead and do this build any tips on a rear diff and suspension set up? i was thinkin since i grew up around the mudding seen with custom fabbed trucks that it would make sence to use a ford 9 inch that will be shortened to fit the width of the accord...and yes it is the f22b2(maybe g22 soon)

 

While I agree that this would be much simpler, you are missing the point. The OP would be doing this because of the fact that it's unique, not because it's a practical choice.

For some people, the whole point of doing something is because it doesn't quite make sense.

Yes, the civette is interesting isn't it? Did you also happen to look at his build thread that showed all the work he had to do? That kind of fabrication is not something that you figure out in your garage over a few weekends.

If you haven't done much fabrication work (including planning) before, you may want to put this project on the back burner for a while. And please, don't think we don't want to see someone complete a project like this. We just would rather you not tear up an Accord and/or waste a bunch of money, only to realize you are in over your head.

The other posters gave you some good advice, so heed it!

 

i read on the civette but im thinkin that since im not shoving 400+hp in the little thing it wouldnt be too hard but i am aware of all the fab work required

Have at it and take a look. Horsepower doesn't really change the amount of work that has to be done.

 

this option would may be "easier" to fab because of the accord's stock rear suspension, however, his will add a lot of excess weight and will likely be detrimental to the handling characteristics of the vehicle

 

wasn't going to say anything at first... the 98-02 accords have a five link rear suspension all on a single sub-frame. with a fuel cell in the trunk to replace the stock tank, custom hubs/knuckles, some added bracing and the rear end out of anything with IRS (MX-5, S2000, any BMW, 240SX...) more of the original chassis could remain. this would however mean more "engineering" and less "mechanic-ing."

either way, the later chassis would be much more suited for a project of this type; more room under the hood, bigger all around, not much more expensive that the CD's...

UPDATE....some dumb wad had a nice idea to throw a brick through the drivers side window for my system (aa/smd 15,3 RF amps,4 cerwin 6x9s,and the oldschool pyramid head unit

 

There was a RWD prelude featured in a magazine that did an h2b with a crv trans/drivetrain. Still a lot of custom work, but another option for anyone dedicated to the cause.
