2003 Civic LX AC not working

2003 Civic LX AC not working
Heyy guys my little cousin called me asking what could cause his AC to stop working. The first thing I asked him was to Turn on his AC to full blast and check the pressure. When he did that he claimed the gauge was in the red. I'm thinking his compressor is bad and that's cause the refrigerant to not go anywhere. Any input would be awesome thanks.
