SRS stays on???? how can I fix this?
I have a 97 accord sedan that belonged to my sister at one time and something happened to the cars ignition so my dad took it out and he things he touched or pulled on a wrong wire that after he was done the srs air bag light stays on???? What can be wrong and how can I fix this??? Any ideas??
Probably ****ed up the clockreel if he played with the ignition area.
You can have the codes scanned to give you a better idea of what's wrong. Just swing by Honda and have them run a diagnostic, I am unsure if Advanced Auto or regular OBDII scanners can tell you the issue.

If you disconnect any SRS related connector, even if you reconnect it, it trips the SRS module to throw a light.
You just have to reset the SRS light... basically using the MES connector you do a series of key on/ off and shorting (jumping) the connector. Very simple.
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait for ten seconds.
2. Connect a short (jumper) to the Memeory Erase Signal (MES) connector.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
4. The SRS indicator light comes on for about six seconds and then goes off. Remove the short from the MES connector within four seconds after the SRS indicator light went off.
5. The SRS indicator light comes on again. Reconnect the short to the MES connector within four seconds after the SRS indicator light comes on.
6. The SRS indicator light goes off. Remove the short from the MES connector within four seconds.
7. The SRS indicator light indicates that the memory is erased by blinking two times.
I have done it on my civic but I have not done it on my accord but that should be the basic process.

Actually good point twkd, I figured the guy unplugged the battery when doing the work, which would not have tripped the light. If he did work in that area with the battery plugged in the light would trip.
In the steering wheel SRS bypass thread in the FAQ I made I have the Accord instructions (worked on my '96) as well as some diagrams for where the connectors are and what not.
