37820-P28-A02

The first five digits basically mean the part is an ECU (engine control unit), the middle set of three digits denote the type of ECU (it's for certain years and certain models), the last three digits seem to give the series and denote that it's for a manual transmission car.

car-part.com might help you find the part btw! It's a wrecking yard inventory website for the US, Canada and Mexico. It's free too.

No problem at all.

If you need a part number like that again, you might want to try hondapartsdeals.com or hondaautomotiveparts.com.

or get a used one off ebay, my ex GF's dad had a dealership tell him the ECU for his 1993 accord was bad and they could only special-order one for $1,xxx from some place in california. I bought one for him for $60 shipped

I'm not suggesting he buy one brand new from Honda. But you still need to know which part number so you purchase the correct ECU.

I'm just making sure he doesn't get duped into thinking he has to get one from honda by someone at the dealership. The website you posted are excellent places to go; I posted another place he can go to compare prices...the junkyards around here always want an arm and leg for the most trivial stuff

Ahhh. The yard I occasionally work at has great prices. I'd definitely call around unless the first place I found had a good price already.

Last 3 digits broken down:

A -> Country code, A = US Federal/49 state, L = California, C = Canada, 0 = Japan, G = Europe, N = Factory reprogrammed, no particular market.
0 -> Transmission designation 0 = manual 5 = automatic (applies to all US/Canadian OBD1 ECUs)
2 -> Revision. Basically tells you the model year of the car the ECU is for, in this case '94.

37820-P28-A00, 37820-P28-A01 and 37820-P28-A03 will all work as well. '92 - '95 P28 automatic ECUs can be used as well with minor modifications.
