So one of my guys is selling me his civic hatch, the only prob. Is he left it over night one day and in the morning he turned it on but the car wont go in gear. It turns on but doesnt grab any gear. My question is wat can it be? The clutch? Tranny? Slave cylinder? How can i diagnose the car to eliminate any of those probs to narrow the pro down? Please ppl help. Hes sellin it to me for 400 wen it ran it ran good i been in it personally thanks ppl

 

Buy it, it's worth it just for the price as long as it's not in shitty condition as well as that price is competitive to the market you're in. Drop a new engine/tranny in and youre good to go.

There is no way we can know, it can be anything tranny/clutch related. For that cheap see if he can go lower and buy it if you want.

 

Yea ima see if he could go lower, i really am not tryin to make a project outta this car i have my ej hatch, im really just tryin to get the car up and runnin as a daily. Ppl please help the car goes in gear turned off but not wen on. I really need help. Plus im lookin into the car because i already got my civic stolen once so i rather put money on one that i will take out wen im out and about and another wen i know it will be safe where ever i go (my ej hatch)

 

youve never worked on an ef hatch before have you...? it doesnt have a slave cylinder lol unless swapped of course. um id say if the gears engage with the engine off but not when on then you have a clutch issue for sure. just my .2

 

Lmao, nope i havent worked on one yet, thats wat i think it is a clutch since my ej8 that was stolen had the same prob but i actually wore the clutch out it gave up on me a mile away from my house lol, but yea and this guy sayin that he parked the car over night and it gave out. I can get a new clutch kit for like 80 bucks since i work in a auto parts store but i just want to dig for how many problems can the car actually have.

It sounds like the clutch is bad,no linkage problem coz it goes into gear when off.

 

double check the clutch pedal those break too

they look sorta twisted if its broken

 

Ima ask him if the pedal is stiff or somethin, man u guys guys are good for help, ima see how low he will go on the price. Ef really grew on me after only likein 92-00 civics
