Belts are probably squeaking because they got wet. You might replace your thermostat just to make sure that isn't why it's overheating. Make sure coolant is topped off too. I can't think of anything that would over heat due to getting something wet.

My car just started overheating recently to. In stopped traffic Ive seen it at 3/4 scale on the temperatrue gauge. I turn the heater on full blast and get moving and it goes back to half scale like instantly. I just topped off the coolant a couple days ago to and still the samething. Im thinking either the thermostat or im leaking coolant.

Is there a way to manuallly turn on the fan to check it? Or if I just idle for a few minutes it should kick on?

1. Disconnect the fan connector (2P)
2. Battery positive to one terminal of the connector.
3. Body ground to the other terminal.
*NOTE: Doesn't matter which terminal as it will just spin backwards.

And, yes, the fan should come on after a few minutes of idle at operating temp.
