Default d series transmission

Will any d series transmission work for a 2002 Civic EX auto? Looking at one off of a '95 d15b7 and was wondering if there would be any issues in using this one.

You can only use 2001-2005 Civic transmissions on a D17. It's an entirely different management system.

My manual trans on my 01 lx is going bad. Still drives but it makes a lot of noise at idle until I step on the clutch. I already had my clutch replaced not to long ago and it was still making the noise. The shop just said it was my throw bearing which I'm guessing they didnt check for the noise at all. I've read some where that it could possibly be my shaft bearing?

When they replaced the clutch, it would (should) have included a new release bearing and pilot bearing.

Your throw-out bearing could very well be the culprit behind the noise.

cul·prit
   [kuhl-prit]
–noun
1. a person or other agent guilty of or responsible for an offense or fault.
2. a person arraigned for an offense.

Basically, the culprit is the "cause" of something.

If the noise goes away when you push the clutch pedal to the floor then its not the throw out bearing, your problem lies in the Input shaft bearing inside your transmission.
Its common.
If the Noise develops as you push the pedal to the floor then the problem is most likely the throw out bearing and not the ISB
