under the severe pressure needed to run diesel, it would crack a sleeve in a heart beat.

When Honda first made this engine back in 2004 it won the diesel engine of the year award, and IMO it still is one of the best diesel engines in the inline4 class apart from the twin turbo motors which is much more expensive.

Stock is 150hp and 258lb/ft. A simple mod is to do a ECU remap which usually gives you about 200hp and 300lb/ft. More torque requires a stronger clutch if you want normal clutch life.

The best mileage I've gotten is 56mpg when driving *very* gently, but I usually get about 36mpg on average with my driving style. Not bad for such a big car.

question is the tranny they used since it's a diesel it has to be beefed up more to be able to handle the amount of torque being put through it

other than that game on

the reason im looking into the diesel motors....diesel is available anywhere...you can throw a god awful amount of boost at it and make gobs of power but still get great gas mileage....makes me wonder why anyone would even waste their time with e85

the problem with diesel and fwd is you have too much torque from a standstill. you'll just blow the tires off and not go anywhere. even with fwd gas turbo cars. turn off traction control on a 1.8t or 2.0t, instant wheelspin.

i bet that motor is impossible to find, only automatic which means lots of r&d into a k-series tranny adapter kit)

In for the results, it would be cool as hell to swap one of these into a hatch for a daily beater... u might start something new

I find it odd that Honda has not released an engine like this in the USA considering how big we are on fuel economy.
