I will be storing my CB7 (letting it sit outside) until winter is over in Connecticut. I was planning on starting it twice a week and driving it around my driveway (it's no longer my DD and isn't registered). I was told that this would be more harmful than just letting it sit...

If this is true then what should I do to store it properly?

 

I'd recommend driving it sooner than once every 2 weeks.
I'd also recommend some car covering

Wash and wax. Wipe down all door creases and hood edges ect. With a rag with some oil on it. Its how I had to store mine to prevent at least some moistors

 

Your plan sounds fine. twice a week is good with driving it. I would put moth ***** in the engine bay to keep mice and other animals from nesting and chewing wiring.
