Default My aeromotive pump review

I finally got the chance just to play with the new aeromotive pump. Looks just like a walbro, I have no clue on flow yet.

Here are the small issue's i found:

the Aeromotive pump #11142 comes with the pump and hardware with it. fuel pump sock.

Well the sock does not sit in the same fashion as our "stock pumps" or the walbro replacement pumps.

WILL NOT SIT FLUSH ON THE BAFFLE FLOOR.

here is a look front to front in comparison as if it was in the baffle

Then here is the other issue, It does come with a pig tail, but for the people who plan on just "dropping" the pump in for PnP replacement of a walbro or stock pump, The polarity is is reversed and the pump will not work. Same as "jay's racing pumps" according to BnR fittings

in other word the negative is where the positive and so on. So you would have to rewire it. Not a big deal but still for the people who are expecting this will be surprised and probably not pay attn to it.

All in all if Deatschwerks work pumps come with the right sock for 92-00 hondas 94-00 acuras and the polarity is the same as a stock setup, Id buy the Deatschwerks.

EDIT:-yes of course you can use your old stock filter but the point is if they are gonna send one out it needs to be the right one. either dont send it or send the right one

If you want a pump that flows more than the walbro why would you limit yourself to just a "255"

The evo's and honda's use the same pumps w/ different install kits (looks like yours) Maybe the aeromotive comes w/ the wrong install kit?

Planned on using one of these in my new build but im interested to see how they hold up long term compared to an OEM supplier like Walbro or Bosch. Aeromotive has always been hit or miss the time that we've used them both in cars and boats.

Ahobbs is this the only one you were able to get your hands on? There are 3 different models of the pump:

Aeromotive 11140
340 Stealth In-Tank Fuel Pump 340 LPH
Center Inlet

Aeromotive 11141
340 Stealth In-Tank Fuel Pump 340 LPH
Offset Inlet

Aeromotive 11142
340 Stealth In-Tank Fuel Pump 340 LPH
Offset Inlet - Inline W/Outlet

That would change your screen/pickup location.

thats the one that's "suppose" to work for 92-00 civic's and acura's. Not saying the pump doesnt work just what comes with it wont. and its not a PnP setup for civic's and tegs.

Ah damn, sorry to hear. You can send it to Kinsler to do an independent pump test for you. See what it will flow if you are interested.

yeah i can do that. Im not to worried about the flow right now. I think it will flow fine. Just needs to fit properly. The point was to make people aware before they made purchases and was expecting a pump to plug right into the stock fuel pump harness.

ps, the other kids thread you locked who was looking for a tuner in va\md..... the proper link you should have posted is in the sticky of the forced induction forum (the tuner directory) the link you provided was simply a faq of the ¨tuning forum¨ (providing the user no assistance)

That's crazy that the pins are changed on the connector/pump. I would say that there are a ton of people that install these that do not notice that thinking it is a plug and play pump.

I'll call it first. Aeromotive is going to get a bunch of returns as warranties and they will send out a notice about the reversed polarity.

lol

That's going to be hard. From what I've gathered Aeromotive doesn't produce these pumps. They are made from a company in the UK, called Pro Tec. Jay Racing sells the PT-342 which looks exactly the same as the Aeromotive, or should I say the Aeromotive looks exactly the same as the PT342. Since the PT342 has been out since October.

The PT342 has the same black body with red end caps, and also reverse polarity, hmmm.

I meant people are going to be sending these back to Aeromotive in the bundles claiming they don't work. The reverse polarity thing would catch a lot of people off guard.

that was bad move by aeromotive to tag their name on a product without doing a thorough research on the market they planned to support. that polarity issue is gonna bite them in the @$$ especially with people who don't think outside of the box.

great job hobbs for pointing this out, I can recomend it to my customers but now I know what to expect when I need to install one.
