crx rear disk convertion...
my crx has a rear disk conversion out of an acura... and e-brake doesnt work my mechanic said that there is a bracket missing in the rear brak does anyone know the part number or where i can buy it???
Get another car if you dont plan on working on the CRX yourself. You will spend a fortune on having "mechanics" fix it all the time. As for the part you need, find a picture and circle the part missing and someone might be able to help you.
have you checked condition of the brake pads? rotors? calipers? and this is brakes were talkin about. if your capable of doing a swap im sure repairing your e brake shouldnt be hard.

first off, you need to get up, get under your car, and check that the cables are still there. then check that theyre even attatched to the rear disc assembly. THEN you need to get a flashlight and look up under the car at where the cables enter the cabin. if they're there but LOOSE, then you need to adjust them. if there isnt a bracket holding the outer sleeve of the cable stationary as they enter the passenger compartment, then your brakes arent going to work. you need to go to the junkyard and pull the bracket and install it in the reverse order that you took it off.
like the man said, if someone else did the swap, then assume that it was done wrong and fix it. OR, go to the honda parts department at your local honda dealership, describe to them the part, order it, and have a LICENSED technician install it.
the easiest and cheapest way to do it is to do it yourself with your own tools at a junkyard, that way you'll have spent the time under the car and have memorized the motions it takes to take it off and you'll know exactly what youre doing under the car when you put it on. then once its on, adjust the rear brakes with a 10mm wrench and check them on your driveway.
biggest piece of advice, buy a chiltons or a helms manual.

i did the same conversion on my crx. the stock e-brake cable doesnt work for the rear disc conversion. So make sure the person who had the car before you swapped out the stock ones. you either need to go to the junkyard and pull the e-brake cables off of a si crx if you can find one there (which i doubt) or pull one off of a DA or DC integra. When you pull your e-brake up does it feel like theres tension in it or is it pretty much free-play?
