intake, headers and exhaust would be the first things to modify. cold air intake, a tri-y header 4-2-1 if u want it a little faster on the streets, or 4-1 header if u want power in the high end of the rpm range, as for the exhaust anything 2.25"-2.5" piping all the way would work. make sure each part compliments each other (pertaining to the headers and exhaust). i consider this all to be stage 1 of the modifications list.
but other than that, wut r ur goals for the car?

All the bolt on stuff for D series just don't seem to be worth it for speed. Bolt on Turbo kit probably would be an idea of course. Ideal thing to do is probably swap engines. Even a cheaper LS B18 would be a nice feel of more power for you. For style put some good suspension on the car. Closing that wheel gap always makes a car look better and handle better if on the right suspension.
...research. don't even touch your car til you know 100% what your doing.
swap before you do anything other then turbo. if you turbo it keep the D otherwise bolt ons is like giving money to hobos. its a nice thought but it won't do what you wanted.
after the swap to whatever. also if you turboed the swap the list would be different.
short ram intake with vstack and tuned length will beat any CAI.
any custom header and 3in exhaust, use an oval muffler over canister though.
some konis,gc,kyb, skunk2, eibach for suspension.
nice shiny wheels and some decent performance tires and your on your way to a decent start.

Don't bother with the engine unless you plan to boost it. otherwise swap it out.
The exterior is up to you. The trend for exterior in the last decade tends to be "function>form" so OEM upgrades and meticulous paint is how you'll win e-points on this website.
Typically you'd get a front lip, paint match the side moldings and front lip, maybe get new mirrors and paint match them. Spoon style are common.
Spoilers are typically left OEM.
I strongly suggest you upgrade the suspension with quality components first. You might find you don't need a fast car
Good suspension will make your car a totally different animal.

true, bolt ons wont do much for performance but do concentrate on the head as well .. bolt ons r good for helping the engine breathe better, its like the engine is the 'bottleneck' if u think about it.
he can go turbo, he can even go high compression, (i would do both). before he does any major mods, he might as well rebuild the motor to handle a turbo (if).
best way for a D to shine, turbo and weight, keep it light, work on the head and block, make it reliable and fast, ull prolly be broke, but hey u cant be cheap and have a fast car thats reliable too. u pay for the quality that u want.
props for stickin with the D-series.
im stickin with my D16, high compression turbo, low boost, goal is 250whp MAX. i got a b18c block that im setting up for high compression all-motor. i still love the D.

I've found that transmission, suspension and interior mods are some of the most rewarding. I'd spend your money on those. For instance:
An upgraded final drive / LSD.
A smaller steering wheel & seats.
Sway bars and fresh bushings.

If you have to ask this, you shouldn't even touch your car. Research until you don't have to ask this. No gay *** leaf, no ***got towhook with doll hanging, no "I love jdm bs"! Do what you like, and try not to look like the rest of these gaybobs with a "shocker" sticker. Welcome to the best honda/acura site out there kid.

Research, research, research!
Look through the appearance/cosmetic section to find photos of other cars. Figure out what you like.
Build it for yourself! Don't ask our opinions on looks because it really shouldn't matter what we think!
theres so much cosmetic stuff you can do to your car, but its gotta be yours noone elses. look at pics on the site or just google, theres a ton of sites that will have all the cosmetics your lookin for. as for engine, if you dont know what your doin i wouldnt do it yourself on the car. ...get one to learn on first if you wanna get into working on it yourself
OP, remember that all of this can get very expensive very fast.
Look at the builds of others and photos and make a list of what you like. Figure out what items you might want or need first. I'd definitely recommend you repair anything broken before you start pouring money into modification.
eBay and Craigslist can be a great resource, but you must know exactly what you're looking for. It's just too easy to get scammed into buying a fake part for too much.

Take your time and research exactly what you want to do before spending a dime. Dont follow all the trends and do what your style is and what you like.
