Icon6 USD F22B1 vs JDM F22B (SOHC)

These two engines are suppose to be exactly identical...and they are except for a temp. sensor and a vaccume hose that runs a little valve that goes from my intake hose to my injectors. So, I had to re-use my whole intake manifold(and buy a new egr valve) so the car would run properly. The only problem that I have now is an issue that wasn't resolved in a couple of threads that I've read. The red-line on these engines are both 6250 and my rev limiter kicks in 1000rpm earlier than that. I read something about LIMP mode but nothing about how to get it out of that mode. I could just simply slow down but that wouldnt fix my problem. I also read something about the tach and it is true that it is off at times but not by much. On one occasion it went up to 6000rpm and it sounds way different...like it should sound.

For the record: 1995 Honda Accord Ex Coupe aka. Sam

Thanks for the info!

The Fuel Injection Air control system was the solenoid and air lines that went to the injectors, this system was found on the 95 USDM EX F22B1 CD Accord, they dropped it after 95 for the CD chassis. It shows up again on one year of the USDM Ex F23A* as well IIRC.

As for limp mode, your Check Engine Light would be on solid and a PGM-FI critical component has to be in a failed/disconnected condition for the ECU to be put into limp mode. If your CEL light is on you should retrieve the stored codes on the ECU. That way you will be looking in the right area. However, If your ECU was in LIMP mode, (aka ecu BACK UP MODE) You wouldn't be able to get your engine past 3,000RPM.

If the CEL is not on and it is not a Limp mode issue. It could quite possibly be something in the Tach signal from the JDM distributor or a vehicle speed sensor issue????

I have no CEL. So are you suggesting that I swap my distributors to solve the rev limiting issue? I have the one off my old motor that should be in workin order.

How do you have the JDM distributor wired? Did it plug right in or did you have to swap wires?

Yes, I'm using the JDM distributor and it plugged right in to my harness. I was driving today and the rev limitter didn't kick on...the temp. outside has drasticly changed as well....maybe that has something to do with it. But, I thought cars ran better in the cold. Current outside temp. here 71 degrees...
