Default Help needed with tranny swap!!!!

Have a quick question for you DA guys.......I'm currently swapping out my 92 Integra DA LS tranny to Hydraulic tranny (S80) from a JDM ITR. My question is .....what do you do about the Power steering sensor assy on the hydraulic tranny? The DA ls tranny uses a cable from the power steering sensor assy to drive the speedometer and sensor assy also controls the power steering assy at high speeds. The Hydraulic tranny uses an electrical connector on its sensor assy to drive the speedometer and I'm not sure if it controls the steering at high speeds also. Now, both are not interchangeable. I know most of you throw out the power steering lol, but what do you do about the speedometer? I would like to have both working if possible and I've been doing some research but could'nt find anything. Any help would be great...Thks

I have that already and that's for the cable clutch to work with the hydro tranny. What I need is the speedometer to work.

You can use a cable speed sensor. They are the same its just one reads on a cable and one is electric. Im basically saying you have to open up the tranny, and switch em out for it to work properly. If you need one i got one lying around just PM me

Sry, you dont have to open it up to change to spedo sensor it just like 2 or 3 bolts. Its really easy.

I agree with this 100%. The conversion kits suck. Its damn near impossible to get the clutch engagement and disengagement right. I've owned hasport kits before. They were not impressive.

The conversion kits also put a lot of unnecessary stress on the clutch cable.

Agreed, if you really must run an itr tranny.
Cable B16 trans is also a decent alternative that would be alot cheaper and easier.

Here's my $.02.
If this is your daily driver and still has an LS motor in it I wouldnt even change it, especially if youre not going to the track (and I assume your not street racing). ITR trans would be nice and im sure itd give a nice improvement, but for the price and work needed you could do alot of other things. B16 trans straight up sucks for daily driving. If you keep the LS trans and you save some $$$ and can still drive comfortably, and could do other things with the money saved.

they do work but their design sucks *****
they do put alot of stress on everyhting including the clutch pedal. we break crx assemblies all the time because of those conversions.

all you need for the speedo cable is the right speed sensor they are for the most part all interchangeable

Even tho it is a lot of work id say switching to itr gears/quaife is deff worth it. People don't realize how much gearing effects the way a car performs. Its like night and day

B16 trans isn't really that bad either, but doesn't have the lsd and takes a lil longer to get traction. I personally would take it over a ls trans tho, I have a ls trans right now, I hate it

yes a ls trans on a itr is like running an automatic itr. its worthless. i raced my buddies. i have driven so many cars with gsr b16 with ls transmissions its not even funny. it pulls like my stock d16

Thanks for all your inputs, but the engine I'm using is a fully fully built ls/vtec with a
B18A1 block and a fully modified B16 type R head with a p28 ECU chipped with hondata
S300. My dilemma is with the speed sensor on the tranny....what should I do? Maybe a cluster swap, a speed sensor swap or use the B17 GSR P61 ECU instead? Can i swap the speed sensor gears with a D series tranny? Also, for the VTEC to work don't you need the speed sensor? What are you guys doing out there to have both speedometer and VTEC working?

The cable VSS does not fit in the ITR (S80) tranny.

Put a dc cluster in your car and wire the speed sensor to it

I always thought the tranny accepts it, I know the cable trannys accept the electrice sensor I dunno why it wouldn't work the other way
