Hey guys. I just would like to get some suggestions on lowering my car. What size drop you think i should do to keep my tires from rubbing but still looks pretty dropped. Thanks

u gonna be using coilovers, coilover sleeves, drop springs, or cut springs? im running H&R springs on my 98 4door and its pretty low. i can still go over speed bumps with no issue and have no tire clearence issues. also had Eibach Sportline springs and they are good.

what are your intentions with the drop? new struts and some decent springs will get you the look. 1.5-2max on a d/d anywhere the roads arent perfect

Zeals are nice but I wouldn't say they are very cost efficient. At a cheaper price koni/GC has a lifetime warranty and re-build-able shocks for the hardcore enthusiasts.

The way I see it there are pretty limited options for suspension for honda under the extreme pricing.

Function < Progress CS-II < Koni Yellow/GC < AMR

I bolded the only 3 I would ever buy.

1.5 lowering springs...max...to avoid problems. I cant speak for coilovers. I had 2.5, had issues bottoming out on anything. 1.5, hardly any issues at all

It depends on where you live. I'm lowered about 2.25-2.5" and I don't bottom out on anything, ever. I have yet to scrape my front lip in the 2 months I've had my new suspension.

The problem with springs is you'll get uneven ride height which can lead to uneven tire wear. With coilovers you can set the ride height such that the driver's side is 1/4" higher than the passengers side, and get the car aligned while you're in it.

Then you'll have 0 problems with tire wear or suspension components or bushings wearing unevenly.

1.5" drop hardly closes the "wheel/fender" gap that people speak of. It's not terrible often that people are happy with such a modest drop. For those who are, more power to you.

I would bet you've got at least 2-3 fingers on each wheel well.

I've got 1 in front and 1 in the back and I'm lowered about 2.5" in the front.

I'm not saying that a 1.5" drop is bad or anything. In fact that's actually about optimal for racing. Strong spring rates + swaybars will do alot more for body roll and chassis flex than another inch of ride height.

My Konis were pretty bad quality. Something broke on two of the four in the first six months. We'll see how they do customer service wise in fixing them. I did like the ride and handling combo they could deliver with the adjustability. Tein s techs are pretty decent for comfortable daily use.

2000 Civic 4dr here

Mugen trailing arm bushings
Skunk2 Pro-S II Full system coilovers
Blox Lower control arms
ASR 24mm Sway bar
ASR subframe reinforcement kit.

And I ****ing hate it.

...every goddamn second of it.

I'm going to put my OEM **** back on while i figure out what Spring/Strut combo i can run that wont knock my fillings loose.

my ride is surprisingly good. Of course I have adjustables. I put them on hard and yes, it will ride hard. So I put the rears on hard, and fronts soft. WHen I had my 2.5 inch drop, my back tires were tucked under fender about a half inch. Front had just the treads tucked in. Loved the stance...hated taking bumps and potholes

how are the mugen bushings? was thinking of picking up a pair. as for the o/p, i run ground control coilovers with kyb shocks on my 4dr teg and have no problems.

Mugen bushings are similar to OEM. But cost about double.

They're awful.

For what you want you need to get function&form.

Anything cheaper than that is going to ride terribly.

How low do you want to go? care about ride quality?

Do you care more about ride height than ride quality?
