Default Sway Bars: Thicker=Better?

I'm on a mission. I want to make my car handle the best it can. I recently installed a rear EM1 sway bar. My car handles much better, I can feel a huge difference. I don't track, should I upgrade to thicker front & rear sway bars? I know rear sub frame reinforcement is a must for +13" rear sway bars.

I don't want a roll cage. I also don't beleive in strut bars. I think of them as eye candy. I'm sure they work, but to a very minimal extent.

Will removing the front sway bar improve steering response. I would like to be able to take turns at high speeds. It seems like upgrading to thick +20" rear bars seem to be the fad. Wouldn't upgrading to a huge bar be a little over kill for street use.

BTW, I have f2 type II coilovers. I prefer stiff dampening settings. I can't stand a soft ride.

What is the thickest anyone here has gone? Front & Rear, I'm sure someone has dared gone into uncharted territory.

Feed back appreciated.

Here are some facts I thought would be good to post in this thread.

1994-2001 Integra LS: 22mm
1994-2001 Integra GSR: 24mm
1996-2001 Integra Type R: 24mm

Rear:
1992-1995 Civic EX: 13mm
1994-1997 del Sol DOHC: 15mm
1999-2000 Civic Si: 13mm

you can go to 15 safely in the rear without a brace on a 6th gen. anything bigger than that i personally would brace. leave your front bar alone. if your not tracking its fine. if you upgrade the rear i'd either look into the del sol VTEC 15mm bar or the eibach 17mm bar.

But if your looking to handle the best it can get some GOOD tires. RE-11's. Star Specs, AD08's ect. Dont cheap on the tire if your looking to make the car handle the best it can

I run a 26mm in front of my car, 13mm in rear. I would deffinetly like to run a larger in the rear. Likely a 22mm, with brace.

The largest sway bars I am aware of 26mm rear from mugen, and 32mm from ASR. Also I belive mugen has a 30mm front.

Thicker sway bars are not always better. Also there are different styles and materials. Some are hollow, some are solid. IMO you can over-do it going too big. I personally like my 22MM front and 14MM rear. It has a good balance and more importantly traction in the turns. Too stiff and not having race tires sometimes makes the car more slippery feeling. Also factor in spring rates, the higher the spring rate the less a sway bar does.

Care to elaborate on this??

Am currently looking into running a 24/32 combo and would love to hear your justification as to why I shouldn't?

The same write up is on the squad site. I thought there was a thread that featured these facts. I would have loved to see some discussion on that topic. Thanks anyway, kristo. All credit for that write up was given to phunhaus by a squad member, respectively. cheers

What do you mean "that" topic? What kind of discussion did you want to have? This can be the thread you're wanting to create.

Phunhaus, thanks for your sway bar write up. It is very useful IMO.

I figured your sway bar writeup would have brought some interesting posts if it was part of a thread. I didn't read your entire write up on jdmuniverse because I have previously read the content before. Unfortunately, I missed the link at the bottom of the page.
