Default A good Brake Pad brand? Good motor mount brand?

So I replaced both my axles because they were shot. I noticed that my brake pads were down to about 25%, so its gonna be time to replace those soon. I noticed that my front engine mount was going bad too so I'd like to replace that soon as well.

What brand of brake pads are good for just everyday driving? I'm primarily concerned with minimizing squealing and dust.

Same thing with the motor mount, what is a brand that you swear by?

This is all a first time for me. I have the tools and I know how to do it, I just don't know what parts to get since there are so many options on sites like www.carpartswholesale.com

Everyday driving, I use Duralast Gold from Autozone. They also have a lifetime warranty.
They are ceramic and they also don't squeal or collect brake dust.

I have actually used Ancxhor brand from AdvanceAuto and I found it to be excellent for the price.. Its about 1/3 the price of the OEM engine mounts and does the job admirably..
You may find it cheaper on www.rockauto.com

Concerning pads, considering that you are looking for low noise and dust.. Wagner Thermoquiet is a great price vs quality option (rockauto once again) or if you are looking to spend a little more the Akebono pads are EXCELLENT...

The reccomended Hawk HPS (what I use on my car) is a sportier pad so you will get a little bit more noise and a lot more dust than the other options I mentioned..

I went down to a Shucks auto parts store in town and they also recommended the thermoquiets. I think I'm gonna go with those.

yea, thermoquiets are good...
Price it in store vs the cost on rockauto and decide which is cheaper...

If you have an advance auto near to you, you can use their 35 and 40% online coupons..

I went with these. For about $59 I never have to buy pads again. Time will tell if these are hard on the rotors though...came with one of those brake lube pouches in the box too.

The lower caliper bolts were a pain. Had to stand on the ratchet to get it to loosen and I weigh 210lbs. I don't understand why it was on so tight. It should have only been 33lb torque.

Next time try some liquid wrench before you get on the job... ie. if you didnt..

It usually helps somewhat in cases such as that...

Personally I'm not a fan of duralast but lifetime isn't really a consideration when im shopping for pads

Good lookin out! I'll have to get some of that. I was lucky that my rotors were fine. The bolts to get there looked even worse.

lol you need to go down to home depot and get yourself a good cheater bar....essentially a piece of metal pipe about a foot and a half or two feet long.

Also, a good tip I use is to take a small two ton jack, the ones with the castle jacking piece and when you put a ratchet around a hard to get off bolt or nut, jack up until the jack rests up against the ratchet so that it has no chance of not being completely straight on the bolt/nut and use the cheater bar over the ratchet handle and you'll be good to go. This technique works great on getting off axle nuts, believe me.
