well my engine is messed up and i have an offer of an almost free car. id love to keep my teg but i cant afford two cars... what do u guys think i could get for it? it has the following:
-clean title
-233k miles on chassis
-manual transmission is perfect no grinds at any rpm
-all black interior
-real jdm rear type r seats(these dont have that stupid plastic tray in middle)
-knock off ebay jdm type r front seats (very comfortable but need to be reupholstered)
-used to have turbo. still has 550cc rx7 injectors with professionaly installed resistor box its tuned to run off oxygen sensor so it runs just fine with or without turbo. the ecu is chipped and tuned with chrome pro. works flawlessly.
-engine has spun rod bearing and has overheated severely. it still runs but not well and makes the knock from rod bearing YOU COULD DRIVE IT HOME.
-ALL CAR NEEDS IS ENGINE AND ITS GOOD TO GO AGAIN.
- ALL TAGS AND REGISTRATION UP TO DATE.
black exterior paint but will have pictures early tommorow.
What do you guys think i could get for my not so perfect car but easy fixer upper.
I would love to get 2000 for it but is that reasonable?

I paid $2000 for my running 98 gsr with 150,000 miles a year ago. It needed a couple things, but all minor. I think you are aiming high. You are selling a 233k mile shell with a blown motor. The car needs some love. Along with wheels, a motor, paint, and a good detailing job. Not trying to sound like a dick, just giving my honest opinion.

Short version is the previous owner was told by the dealership that it was hydrolocked. He let it sit for 8 months before i bought it. All it needed was an ecu and some other misc. things. Still runs like a champ.
From what I gather gsr's are worth their weight in gold now. Lol. I havent seen one for sale for under 5k in this area for a long time. Good luck with selling yours. Does it need paint or is that the sun and shadows playing tricks on us?

the hood used to be carbon fiber but i sold that and got a stock one... the hood and front bumper should be repainted.. other then that the rest of the car just needs a wash and wax...
the reason it looks so messy is easy.
first my house has a long dirt drive way.. if i were to wash the car right now the moment i drive it down that dirt road it will esentially look the same as it does now.
and second cause i still use the car to go to work.. but today it died on me cause water gets into the cylinders so after a while of driving theres is too much steam in the cylinders for it to run well and eventually will die until it all cools down and dries up... if i go start it right now it would run fine minus the sound it makes... but is well enough to be driven home if u live within 30 mins of me.
im not looking for a whole buncha money just enough to get my next car which is a 1990 300zx that im going to get for very little money but needs a new clutch.

for some strange reason I really like that steering wheel, nice idea =p. If you cleaned her up i'm sure you could get probably around 1500 for it.

thank you so much for ur appraisals guys im gona clean up the car and see what i can get for it... or if worse comes to worse i might get a used engine in better shape and get it running again then sell it for more
I'd say $1200 because I bought my Integra LS for $2000 and it had 135k miles on it and the only negatives were a faded hood, trunk, roof and no exhaust. It really just needs an extreme cleaning and you'll get like $1500 for it.

ugh im so torn i really dont want to give up this car... like ever.. but at the same time its not a question because i have a job where i commute a lot to different schools in different cities.... im actually debating taking a loan out for a type S swap.... but iduno the entire purpose to me selling the car was being able to make enough money to get a 1k car and have enough to make repairs and tune ups to that 1k car.. but a type s sounds so nice.
it's also expensive, has no lsd and is a lot more work to install than a type r. the k 20 is a better engine but $3500 shipped for a complete type r swap gives you a bolt in affair and an lsd.
Whatever you do, do NOT put it up for sale looking like that... In that condition, I wouldn't get you 1000 bucks. Sure, some people don't care about appearance, but I look at it that mess, and the fact that the motor is T.U, and I see a guy who flat out doesn't take care of his stuff.
You need to clean it up 100%. Absolute disaster. Hardly anyone would want that car in that condition.

What year is this? As the car sits, I doubt you'll get anymore than 1200.. I wouldn't pay anymore than that for a shell looking like that.
You should try and cough up around 500-600 bucks and get a nice motor from HMO and swap it yourself.
