Default 93 accord se air bag voltage

I just fixed the clock spring on a 93 accord se I had just purchased. I was about to connect the air bag and stopped and decided to check voltage at the air bag connector. Should there be 12 volts to the air bag? If not what should it be. I am afraid if I hook it up it is going to deploy on me.

Thanks,
Jim

You should NEVER EVER EVER connect an airbag with the battery connected.

Disconnect the battery and let the car sit for an hour before connecting it. That said, I would imagine 12V to the airbag would make sense, most items in the car are around that......

I did disconnect the battary and the voltage slowly dropped at the connector. I am just wondering if when I hook the battery back up is 12v going to deploy the airbag. I am not really trying to have to buy another one.

Thanks
