Default renewing my carpet, which is a good dye?

Ok so im going to be pulling my carpet out come spring to steam clean and lay down some sound deaden under the carpet. My carpet is black but showing its age and rather finding new carpet or buying from the dealership I thought bout getting duplicolor black carpet spray paint. How does this hold up or would I be better to grab a few cans of the sem stuff instead?

the first time I did my car I used dupli color and that started to fade away in spots after about 2 or 3 months, the second time I used RIT fabric dye (that you can get from wal-mart) and after I used the fabric dye I waited for it to dry and went back over it with a heavy coat of dupli color and its been good now for a whole year. Looks factory too.

I've heard SEM interior paint is good as well.

i use only rit dye. unlike paint it won't make the carpet rough.

I figure that since my carpet is already black that it shouldn't be noticeable of a fade then say going from tan to black. But def don't want it to get rough and crunchy afterward so ima check out the rit dye stuff. How much is that stuff

I'm going for black/red theme with my car. (It has nothing to do with Georgia's football team, I promise you. I hate football.)

I think I may try black interior with red seats. :D

I used black RIT dye from Wal-Mart on my tan carpet about 7 years ago and it is still holding up pretty well. I'd think using the same black dye on black carpet would work fine.

yeah just make sure you buy a good 4 to 5 boxes of the stuff it's cheap. oh and make sure you clean the carpet really well first with soap and water. and you could dye it red but you would have to bleach it first.
