Hi mileage Integra worth dumping $$ into?
Sup guys, gotta question for you. I've got a 90' DA9 with over 330k miles on it. Its a great car I drive everyday without any problems. Its bone stock with the exception of the suspension/wheels/tires. The car was given to me by my neighbor. This past weekend, I picked up a B18A motor from a buddy for hella cheap, and I've really thought about building and boosting it. After figuring what I'd spend (roughly $5k), I'm starting to wonder if its really worth it with a car that old with those kind of miles and the kind of work it needs. I'm not a crazy enthusiast when it comes to the car, I'd rather have a different platform (00-01' DB8 GSR) to build.
What do you guys think? I could save the money, and buy what I really want, but then I'm looking at another car loan and payments for a couple of years. Not sure I want that. I have the tuner bug yes. I can't not mod my cars, it impossible.
Help me out here guys. I'm stuck.

Well Isolate your pros and cons man.
How does the DA9 look? Is the body straight? Ever been in an accident? Original paint and color? How is the condition of the interior? If you already have a spare motor then why are you concerned about the mileage the cluster says? U say it already has suspension and wheels, so thats not a bad start.
Get the car you want in first place, It really don't make sense to dump money into the DA if you don't like it in the first place. For me I prefer the DA over the DC, but thats just my humble opinion.
How long do you plan on keeping the car?
What sort of goals do you want to achieve with your car?
5k btw should be enough for just the motor for a decent boost setup.

The body is fairly straighy. It has alot of rust here and there, but the rear corners of the quarters are rotten all the way through. Aside from the body, the interior is spotless. The mileage isn't the biggest concern, its the wear and tear on the parts because when I received it the car was all original. It still has the stock clutch (believe it or not). I've been doing things here and there out of necessity with alittle bit of want (springs, wheels, tires). Being a free car I can't complain, and I'd even thought about building it into a track car but that'll be a few years before that happens. It hasn't ever been in an accident and the paint is all original.
You don't necessarily have to get stuck with a car payment to find a newer DC.
Now that you mentioned rust, I personally would get rid of it. But you do live in Utah so I'm not sure if it would be easy to find a car without rust.
Now if you plan on making it a track car in the future then some rust isn't really bad since I assume you would be repairing it anyway.
If you have the time and money to make it a track car then why not keep it?
But as a moderately modified DD then you should get the newer DB8 instead.

You'd be hard pressed to find a financial institution that would finance a 10+ year old car anyway. It's better to pay cash anyway.

Nothing is wrong with fixing up a DA. Its all about YOUR taste and what YOU want. I have a 92 four door Teg with 277k miles and I plan on fixing the few rust spots, new suspension, wheels/tires, paint (same color) and swapping a b18b into it and later down the road throwing a snail on it so I can have a fun DD to mess around with. Plus the fact that I dont have a car payment, I bought the car for $1k 2 years ago BUT like I said...ITS ALL UP TO YOUR PERSONAL LIKES AND OPINION and its YOUR MONEY. Do what you want with it.

You need to consider a couple of things. I assume you have or would need to get another car to daily drive during this whole process. If not, then it's really not worth doing anything to since there will be down time involved.
Would you be doing this as kind of a restoration/show build, perhaps also for some track use? Would you want to do all the body work and rust repair necessary in order to learn and/or show that you can do it? If not, I definitely would not pay a body shop to repair all the rust for you. IMHO that is not worth it. I would just find a better car to start with.

i just picked up a 92 $1500 ive spent around 4k on it so far and thats including the coil overs, fiber hood, windshield, had stock b18a punched 20over with 10.1 pistons, new clutch..... so for under 7k i have a new car. keep the DA.
Keep this car and drive it like you stole it as your daily driver... that's always fun.
Then save your $$ and get the car you really want and take your time and do it right.
Almost cheaper to insure 2 cars as it is one.

Pretty obvious here what the best route to take is. I'll drive it until I find the car I want. Think I'll endup giving it to my wife's little brother at the end of the year for his 16th bday.
Thx for all the input and advice everyone.
