just to let you guys ive searched and havent really found a straight answer. Anyway i have 1998 civic coupe, with a d16y8. gears 1-4 go in perfect but when i try to put it in 5th or reverse it wont go in at all feels like a wall is blocking it. Even when the car is off it wont go in 5th or reverse. the clutch is perfect. anybody have any idea whats wrong??? also its a vtec engine but i dont have a vtec ecu on it so maybe thats why it wont go in reverse??? please help i have no idea what it could be

 

The ecu has absolutely nothing to do with it. I bet your linkage just needs adjusted.

 

so im guessing im have to get the tranny dropped in order to do that?

 

anyone else have any ideas on this??
