cbr rr 6 2003 problems

Default cbr rr 6 2003 problems

hey al im new needed a good site for all types of help and this looked good for that> 2003 rr new starter motor put in and now it wont run its starts with fully charged battery dies 20 mins later with dead battery now i no these have reg/rec problems will it just be this.

could be either the r/r or the stator, disconnect the rectifier from the stator and check your resistance between the connectors

if an autoparts store can check the voltage for the stator like they can for an alternator, that's where you should go if you can't check it yourself.

Honda motos are known for blowing up regulator/retifiers... My 2000 VFR800 and 1998 CBR1100XX both had the same problem, that'll be the first place I check.

Once replaced the reg/rec, I'll hook up a voltmeter to the batery and start the bike, let it run around 4000 rpm and check the voltage at the bettery terminals, should be around 13.8 or 14.4v, idle voltage should be atouns 12.8 to 13.2v.

If you have below 12v at idle or 4000 rpm, your stator might be dead.

If it starts but dies, check your stator, because it should maintain charge...you can check to see by bump starting your bike...if you cant then most likely your stator is shot.
