RPM @ 70MPH
I am working on a problem with my torque converter- not locking up.
I recall that at 70 MPH I got 2700 rpms. Now I am turning about 3000.
It is a 95 accord EX
Anyone with a 94-97 please chime it with your 70MPH rpms.
thanks

Well, I won't post RPMs, but will suggest you search. There are several threads on the matter, this is one of them I recalled posting in awhile back.

3000 is a little on the high side for 70mph provided your speedo and rpm gauge are accurate. 2700 to 2800 would be the sweet spot.

Thanks for the link.
The posts in it confirm what I suspected. The TC is not locking up. There are no codes, and I have ohmed the TC solenoids and checked them with 12V.
I need to figure a way to make a jumper to see if the TCM is sending voltagel to the lockup solenoids. Any ideas?
For all those that are getting around 3000, it may not seem like a big deal that your TC is not locking up, but it makes a big difference in highway fuel mileage, about 10% actually.
I now get only about 27 on the highway, instead of the 30.5 I usually get at 70 with the cruise control set. I do a lot of highway driving.
Not to mention the extra unnecessary wear on your engine.
