Hi, I just joined and cannot start a thread yet so I will post on this one.

I have a 1998 Accord V6, the transmission seems to be running rough. It shifts hard, especially in reverse (like when pulling out of park). I was told the fluid was changed before I got it a few years ago. When I check the fluid it is very dark, like oil. I have heard that changing the fluid when its already running bad could kill it? Any recommendations? Should I just do a tranny flush or put some additive in it? I was also told that in older models the cylinders (?) can be cleaned to make it run better, but this person wasn't sure about the new motors (he had an 88).

Thank for any help!

Change the AT fluid asap. The fluid should always be red. Any other color and it's time for a change. That's the first thing I would do.

Don't flush that might make it worse just drain and refill.
