Ebay Experiment; Suspension On the Cheap
Seems like everyone on HT is either super Broke (me) or Loaded.
I would love to drop thousands of dollars on my wagos suspension, but for now i just cant.
So im going to see what i can do on the cheap cheap side of things.
Im not autocrossing the car or anything, just wanna stiffin it up a little bit.
So here is what i have come up with:
Option Racing Coilover Set-$40.00 Shipped
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-94...Q5fAccessories
FWR Extended TopHats- $135.00 Shipped
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Civic...item2a0bc1ccc3
KWU Camber Kit -$50.00 Shipped
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SILVE...item41568c3948
Yonaka LCA's $70.00 Shipped
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yonak...item588c63c15d
OEM replacement Struts. $35.00 Per Corner
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-S...item3a62d0a560
Im thinking about really trying all of these things, i mean what do i have to loose? Every product has a warrenty, and im not running crazy HP. I just want to Firm up the Stance for a daily.

So right around $500, right? Check out the road racing forum and drag race forum. You might find used name brand suspension for sale there that will outlast any of the garbage you posted man.
Honestly, $40 coilovers...why waste the money? Camber kits? You don't need them, put those $50 towards an alignment. Yonaka LCAs? I thought I had seen **** with blox man. New OEM or hardrace bushings will perform better and last a whole lot longer. And Hell No to those cheap shocks...again, look around for a used set of Tokico Illuminas
My advise is from experience man...all that stuff won't last one year. All the "for now" **** ends up making you spend more money later. You have $435 to lose. HP numbers don't matter man. Put the money towards quality parts and you won't regret it.

Yeah stay away from the ebay coilovers. The destroyed my whole front suspension and shocks. Could press the shocks in and two weeks later they still not have come back out.

Isn't the best but IS better then what he is thinking of buying.
Revo has been out before skunk2 and from what I've seen they are good for the price. In fact, coming from people who used them for autoX I didn't see a single complaint...and i looked. K sport Lca;s not sure lol just seen a few people ride out telling they've been good to them, saving to buy a pair.

MAN! I just love Stirring things up on here! Haha
Ok, So a few questions,
I have used the $40.00 coils before, and they rode better than my Skunk Works Coils. What is to fail on the coils? Other than then Rubber O-rings that stop them from rattling.
Those Struts have a 3 year warranty on them, and they are the same brand I have seen in autozone. But yes, im sure they wont last as long as tokicos.
The camber kit I can understand, because they don't grip right, and they slip out of adjustment.
I made my own tophats before, and they made the car ride soooo much better, and I dont see how those can fail either.
I'm not saying everyone on here is wrong, because that's obviously not the case, I'm just looking for the specifics on why these products are not as good as name brand.

$550 will get you a set of Progress Coilovers...And Progress makes amazing stuff. Ask the road race forum and the Auto-x guys as well. They'll say it's amazing stuff. Spend the extra dollar and wait for another paycheck to do it right man. You'll be kicking yourself in the *** if you don't.

Camber kit...why are you buying them? Is it because you think dropping the car will chew up the inside of the tires? Just get an alignment and you'll be fine.
Autozone axles have a lifetime warranty but it doesn't take away from the fact that they're garbage. Stock replacement shocks aren't valved to handle drops or high spring rates. If you're all about a bouncy ride and trying to get an ebay seller to warranty the shocks over and over again, by all means, get them. BTW, Tokico HP (blues) are no better than those black shocks man, they're meant to be stock replacements as well. Save the cash for Illuminas, Konis, or Bilsteins and you won't have to replace anything for a long time.
I'll put it this way man, pay attention to what guys like Driven, Tyson, and a few others on here suggest. These guys have been down these roads before and speak from firsthand experience. A lot of these guys track their cars and can tell you what works and why.
I tried one of those eBay camber kits. The rubber got all torn up. I have seen aluminum parts from eBay break very easily too.
U don't even need a camber kit for the rear, you can install washers under the stock parts.
I would fully expect, all of the rubber bushings in those eBay parts to be destroyed in a very short time.

Alot of great info here...Glad I stopped by to read. I was at the minimum going to get the LCAs. lol But the point in them are to cut weight also so what other name brand product is out there for LCA's?
I have Skunk now and they're thrashed. I have a pair of ITRs waiting to be installed as soon as I re-valve a set of spare Koni shocks that a friend has.
The only LCAs out there that aren't garbage are Function 7s. You're way better off just pressing in new bushings (not poly) into your stock arms.

Nope mainly a bling factor. Think about it this way how old is your car and how long have your stock bushing lasted. Install a set of aftermarket lca properly blowout bushing real quick. suspension is something you dont cheap out on.
