Default pulling gsr swap out question....?? experts only please! thanks

i am curious.... when removing a gsr from the shell.... can i drop the motor from the bottom or would i need to use a hoist to pull it out from the top?.....

i am curious also about the bolt on the rear t-bracket.... how is the accessible? seems like i cant get that bolt with any of my tools.... hrmmm sounds like i might need swivel sockets and extensions for this....

i also have access to a lift... just wasnt sure about the process... i have pulled plenty of swaps out... this would be my first gsr swap from an integra body....

please be elaborate with responses..... thanks very much for helpful info....!!!

Out the bottom only if you can get the front end high enough to roll or slide the motor out, or lift the chasis with a lift.

Otherwise out the top is easier

Rear mount is easy. 3/8" ratchet with a shallow 17mm.

takes me an hour to lift it from the top
thats with no ac

its simple stuff. the hardest part being the shift linkage exhaust. i cut the bolts for the exhaust and buy new ones at home depot.
the bolt you can break it loose with a ratchet and extension. i use a breaker bar. but i have air tools and while tricky i can get my impact down there and snap it off in 3 seconds. i take that rear tbracket bolt off first then the side mounts off
an impact helps alot

The proper way is from the top. Your better off doing it that way.

If you have any questions about swaps let me know im a Tech. Thanks.

I pulled my gs-r's engine from the top with a hoist. Wasn't bad at all. It helped alot to have a few friends there to guide the engine past all the other stuff in the bay. When I put it back in I will definetly have friends to help so we do not chip the fresh paint!

i have a cherry picker and still take them out the bottom. it's so much easier going in and going out. actually, going out is easy either way, going in the bottom is a superior method

I also pulled my engine and put it back in, in my garage, by myself, with a cherry picker. It was a beast of a job to do by myself, but it is possible. I have a Matco air hammer anvil made especially for the Honda shift linkage spring pin, so that part was super easy.

Thought about going in from below but wasn't sure how to get the chassis high enough, and was afraid to yank up on the front end with the cherry picker.

I would think with a lift it would be a TON easier coming out from the bottom. Just rig up a sturdy table or other support platform on casters, set the whole car down so the table is just under the oil pan and trans, use some blocking to keep the engine/trans level, unbolt everything, then lift the chassis back up.
