Default 1991 Civic Hb DX with a B18b1 swap?

Hey everyone, im new to this forum..i was trying to find a forum that had good feedback and this looks like the best one.

So i have a 1991 Civic Hatchback DX, i Just bought a B18b1 for it the other day with plans on swapping it in to my civic in about a month or so. When i bought the engine it came with almost everything for the full swap (dizzy wiring, ecu, axles, tranny, altenator)..so i have a few questions that im hoping someone would be able to answer.

1) In which way do i go upon converting the hydro tranny to cable, or is it easier to convert my clutch to hydro?

2) Where is the best place to buy mounts for the swap?

3) I was told is is difficult to do the OBD0 to OBD1 conversion..is it really that hard?

4)Is there much more i need to know about these swaps?

I only turned 18 not long ago, so i know some but not as much as i would like, any info that you guys can give me would be much appreciated! thanks.

first off thanks for joining this site.. it is the best overall.. and for your questions il try to answer them how i would do it myself..

1.. if u have a tranny thats cable for ur ls then if i was you and u wanted to jus get it in and running i would get a oem clutch to match ur tranny and jus put it in that way..

2.. mounts.. if u have the stock mounts on ur civic u could always save money and pack them with polyurathan or however u spell it, then again u could go to hasports site and but the mouths that fit ur civic for that swap.. hasport makes very very good mounts..

3.. u could always try and get u an obd0 to obd1 jumper harness, im not sure how much they are or how hard they are to find because iv never had to do that but thats always an option.. ebay..

4.. i have a ls integra and the motors r strong as hell.. if ur gonna ls swap it do all motor ls.. i personally think thats best way to go with an ls.. if ur civic came with the wiring harness and all that ur pretty much set besides the mouths whitch i told u about.. good luck on the build and post pics bro..

i bought a b16a2 tranny its cable but they have a hydro conversion, and if you keep the stock harness then you can buy jumper harness's for everything, the distributor the ecu and you can get the plug to eliminate ur resistor box, you can even buy jumpers for the injectors or you can cut and splice them, im cutn and wiring it up, but im also doin a wire tuck, but you should only need the clip for the distributor and match up the same color in the pins to plug in, then eliminate the resistor box swap the clips out for the injectors and get a obd0 to obd1 jumper harness, i got hasport mounts, remember you get what you pay for, so dont buy cheap equipment, but do some research first, im new to this to.

stock mounts will not work, ether buy a hydro ef hasport kit or find someone with a cable ls tranny to trade, convert to mpfi and ether go obd1 or find a obd0 pr4 ecu, im not sure about 94 up axles working, i know 90-93 work

alright thanks for the info everyone. i was told about hasport being one of the best for mounts.. i checked them out a little while back and im most likely going to order mounts from them..and i was looking at jumper harness' for the obd0 to obd1 ..but would i have to buy different harness' to eliminate the resistor box?, or does one jumper harness include the materials for the distributor and ecu?...and its it manditory to do the mpfi conversion too..cause the stock engine in mine is non vtec and the swap is non vtec...does that make a difference?

1) get a cable hydro tranny converter... you can spend the money and get hassport ones, or you can get the innovation ones a lil cheaper.

2) again hasport makes mounts they are pricey though, inovations (ebay) run about 100 bucks versus 350 for hasports. stock mounts will not work!

3) you are going to get a obd0 - obd1 jumper harness, they also make a dizzy jumper harness.. check out rywire

4) http://crxresource.org/modules.php?n...rticle&sid=134
i know this is a crx and a b16a1 but it is a good source of info

i was just on rywire and i was looking at the obd0 to 0bd1 conversion harness' and i was also looking at a b series harness..are they the same but one a mpfi conversion and dpfi conversion?? :S and thanks for showing me the cable to hydro conversion, i may be able to get my hands on a hydro clutch off off a del sol...would i be better off just buying the conversion rather than taking the other clutch?. thanks!

i can defenitely look for a cable tranny..what would be the best tranny to get for the engine i have (b18b1) . and the tranny thats in it now is a ys1.and from what i hear its a pretty legit tranny (could be wrong, i was told they are expensive to buy).. what would be the price on that one if i were to sell it? thanks again.

yes from the b17, and it's quite rare.

i put together this writeup for b-series swaps into ef's, should answer all of your questions, and one's you haven't yet thought of lol.

ohh alright..im going to double check the tranny...the guy said its a ys1, but he also said hydro( because it came with a slave cylinder), but before the engine was stored at a garage near my house my father and i took a quick glance and he said he did not see a slave cylinder, which might lead me to believe its a cable tranny meaning b17a1 (right?). i will find that out..and post soon as possible,

The YS1 usually comes from the 90-93 integra and that should be a cable trans. About the cable to hydro conversion kit I wouldn't recommend the hassport that **** is stiff as hell!! Usually either the bracket for the pedal will snap first or the bracket for the hydro conversion kit will... I switched over to innovation and it works like a champ! just my 0.02 cents!!
